A PS3 adaptation of "The Settlers of Catan" board game may be coming to America. The ESRB has added a brand new listing for the game, donning the title an E rating. Most likely, this version of Catan is the one released in Japan in 2008, developed by longtime Sony partner Game Republic.
No other details can be garnered from the brief ratings listing. The original Japanese version released exclusively on PlayStation Network for 1200 yen (about $13). It seems safe to assume the US release will be similar.

totally. me and my friends used to play this game for a couple hours every few nights for about 3 years. we'd just bust it out and play while watching TV or passing the controller around during long-term gaming sessions. i'm assuming this game will have an online component, but i'm still psyched either way :)

Worth a mention that Catan is available on Xbox Live already.

Catan is Catan is Catan. As long as you have the AI-chops to handle this game, it's hard to screw it up...
And yes, there is an XBLA version. It works great, thank you very much.

Don't know why Ryan is getting downvoted. Yes, the game is on XBLA. However, this is from a different developer, so it will be slightly different.

Ryan's getting downvoted because he's exhibiting troll-like behavior. It's not obvious?

Er, no trolling here. Just letting folks know that console Catan is available. I'm all for board gaming action, regardless of which console its on.

I don't think Ryan was really trolling but I do think he got downloaded for his comment because mentioning it's already available on XBOX has nothing to do with the article since the article is posted under the playstation heading.

Why are people so angry, and why do they like to jump to conclusions :O

cowtown, technically no hes not, because what he mentions is in fatc related to the game, just not the same console. To be trolling he's have to be saying its better on 360 or something to spout annoyance. However, as Andrew didn't mention it was on 360, to stop people coming in and asking rather dopey questions of:
"Is this on 360?" It makes sense to just get it out in the open, anyone who thinks it looks interesting and owns a 360 can just hop over to thier 360 and download it.
Thank you Ryan. Its a shame some people are so petty.

As someone who already has the 360 Catan. That company ditched any sort of the original board game expansions. Here's hoping the PS3 version I'll get will have that intact, least as "worth it" DLC.

Is it really?
Thanks for the heads up. My first thought when I saw the 'Playstation' tag, and the headline that Catan was heading to PSN was...
"Man, forget PSN. I really want to know if this is on Xbox Live."

This is good news. Catan is one of the few XBLA games I've returned to over and over since it came out back in the spring of 2007. I hope PS3 owners flock to it -- the more people that play games like this, the more of them we'll see.

Was thinking of getting this or Carcassone on XBLA. Any thoughts?

I've played both in real life and played Carcassonne on Xbox 360 and I think Carcassonne is a better game. Can't you try the demos? Are there demos?

YEah i tried the demos. Carcassone was easy to get into and pretty fun but i was worried that there wasn't much to it. Catan i didn't totally get, but was going to give another try since everyone raves.

I just barely played this game last semester. It was alright, but I think Carcassonne is better.

I'm a fairly recent Catan addict, and I've played for countless hours the actual board game (w/ expansions), 360 arcade, PC and iPhone...and I'm still excited about the PS3 version! You can already download it if you have a hongkong or japan psn account with funds, but this news just made it worth the wait!

That screenshot is really funny to me. Something about Magellan, Marco Polo, and Vasco de Gama paired up with a random anime girl...

That is not a random anime girl, that is one of the characters in another board game, Shadow Hunters, another awesome game, but very different from Catan. it shows that a boardgamer was playing the game for the screenshot.
