"Let yourself be drawn deep into the world of Heavy Rain with 'Four Days' - a three-week online mystery"

Anyone else find something wrong with that statement?

They're clearly going to be like 24. It may be a short period of time, but its actually spread out across a much bigger time.

..And could be preempted by football, or obama.

The "Four Days Challenge" part seems to refer to that time between Tuesday-Friday (T-W-T-F, aka 4 days). So, the events will unfold over three weeks, but you'll have four days to piece it all together.

I want to participate, since I'm somewhat excited for Heavy Rain but is that the only reward...a Home shirt?? That's pretty weak if that's the case.

tmac, either participate and forget about the (admittedly cheap) reward, or don't participate and just wait for Joystiq's inevitable coverage of the whole thing.

Personally, I'm doing the latter.

Yeah I preordered this a while back and have avoided anything that has to do with the main story. I really can't wait for this game to come out since even with some of its faults indigo prophecy was a good game.

I think Indigo Prophecy's biggest problem was the absolute insane storyline. But this has a realistic storyline, more/better gameplay, and a better atmosphere from what I've seen.

I agree, indigo started out really good but when I saw the bugs it kind of lost me there. The interaction was the best part and like you said the fact that its reality based on finding a serial killer is what sold me on this game. I just hope I don't get let down, but looking at the previews from various sites seems to be assuring in my purchase.

Better than nothing but I can't can't be bothered with Home.

It's an evolution of those old-style point-and-click adventure games. You walk around the scene (in third person), and interact with the environment/other people.

Action-y scenes are all done via QTEs (although QTEs that look far better than any other QTEs in any other game).

It's a very story driven affair, with your actions affecting how the story plays about.

So, no, not a shooter.

You're both asses. Or, at least according to the user names you picked, you're both somewhat asses.

I'd say it's common sense these days that people expect you to use the search button (or, if the one on Joystiq only half works for you, like it does for me, use google).

If you can't first search for something yourself, then don't expect to get nice replies.

That being said however, the people replying also didn't have to be rude. Apparently helping someone out is too hard for Joystiq. (Though kudos to those who actually answered his questions).

As they said, it's a very story driven game where the gameplay revolves around the decisions you make during hte QTE events. You can even choose to do nothing during them, and see what happens. You're investigating a serial killer in the game. You play through the game through the eyes of different characters, each with their own view on things. Any or even all of the characters can die or survive. There is no real ending or "good ending" for being a completionist. The entire story depends on what you do and when.

That said, they haven't released much info on the story itself, but if you check the past articles on Joystiq they do have some videos and pics of the various characters and levels (and some of the more risque events in-game).

It does look pretty awesome albeit in a different way than other games that look awesome. It's kind of like a choose your own adventure that revolves around four different characters. When a character dies the narrative continues and the developers encourage the player to continue playing even if that character that died was your favorite. Also, all four characters can die and you still get closure on the narrative. There are no continues or do-overs just like real life.

If you want to get an idea about the gameplay or the game itself go here: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/heavy-rain/2717 and watch some of the gameplay trailers, developer commentary and demonstrations.

The only thing we really know about the story itself is that it revolves around tracking the origami killer who has kidnapped another child. Each character has their own incentive to track the killer down all of which haven't been explained. Some characters will also cross paths within the context of their own personal scene. But, the story can play out so many different ways that there is really no way to explain the contents of the story because its up to the player to decide.

I just think its something thats new and fresh and I'm pretty stoked to play it. It certainly won't be for everyone because there isn't multiplayer and its just not normal from a gameplay experience. It could completely fail to deliver like so many other new concepts before it (mirrors edge for example) but it could also succeed in doing something new (little big planet for example) and carve out a niche for these types of games. In terms of my own personal anticipation its up there with gran turismo 5 and final fantasy 13 but that certainly won't make it immune to criticism.

Hope that helped answer some of the questions you had about the concept of the game.

Do we get the reward after the four day thing, or upon registration? I tried registering, but my browser didn't load after I clicked "register me" then I tried registering my email later, and it said I'm already registered...just wondering if I need to register again for the shirt.

This is going to be the most amazing 1st quarter for gaming in recent history. I just finished Darksiders today and that was the best 19 hours I've spent gaming in a long time. What a great game, I'm excited for the sequel in two years. But seriously, ME2, Heavy Rain, FFXIII, Splinter Cell, Galaxy 2, etc. 2010 is going to be one of the most kickass years ever.

I thought the same thing when I got Professor Layton. Turns out, it sold amazingly. Just because you take a risk doesn't mean it won't sell well. The hype it's received (and if it gets amazing review scores) will guarantee enough success for the publisher/developer. I'm buying it Day Uno.
