By the way Maverick, before "quite" and "legit;" a "to be" would have created a much better fit.

if you ask me

if they make dlc for a game and its a big dlc (shivering isles gta iv dlc and fallout 3 dlc) then they can by my book charge for it seeing as they made it after the game and because the put loads of time and effort into that dlc

now if its one map then yes let it be free
if its a new mode let it be free

if its 3 new maps then 500msp at least not 800msp

look at what ubisoft are doing there extending assassins creed 2 cheaply

one dlc is $3 and the other is $4 and there both over a gigabyte of size

same with criterion games they released a tonne load of dlc/updates to burnout pardise

not every single piece of dlc has to be free like your used to

dlc like gta iv's and fallout's and oblivions arent ever going to be free because they took loads of time and effort to make that could of been used on a new game but no they wanted to extend your time with a game so you dont go selling the game straight after you complete it or get stuck and angry at it

sorry but thats being greedy asking for those to be free

developer's have changed times have changed
the economy has changed

they cant release dlc for free like they used to dude
what with everyone renting their game's instead of buying them (meaning they don't make the money that they should have made)

look at killzone 2 on the ps3
it's sold 2 million copies (mayby more) i think so far
and look at the amount of ps3's that are out there 30 million i'd say so far

2 million people brought the game out of 30 million people who brought the ps3
how many people rented the game though

see thats what the renting business / pre owned has done to new sales XD

See ya soon

Hey 'That Guy', here's a protip for your rhymes and such:
Keep your lines in one post, you won't get downvoted as much.

Otherwise, I think people would like the things you say.
Right now, though, you're doing it the wrong way.

I hope this clears up all the confusion and idiocy from the last article on this a couple days ago. That was a tough day for human intelligence.

I hope they unveil what the DLC is today though. I'm betting on that extra squad member from the original rumor, and a bonus side planet that ties into the beginning of the game.

A lot of people were upset that this "dlc" was content cut from the game to be given for free to new purchases on launch day. That's different and likely because it's kind of doubtful this content was specifically made with the intention of being free. Whether you agree or not is another issue but that was the main complaint. It's not a difficult distinction to understand even for the most ardent supporter like yourself.

It's not content that was cut out, it was content planned as DLC from the beginning. They've had DLC planned into the development cycle, much like what Bethesda did in Fallout 3 so they can get it out sooner. This was probably the first DLC worked on so that it would be ready to be put out on launch day.

Either way, people look dumb when they complain about cut content in games as large as Dragon Age and ME2. The latter is on 2 discs for christ's sake.

Wait, so it's free, provided you get it on launch day? That's fiendishly clever of them. Well, I was going to get it on launch anyway, so this is a nice bonus.

You don't need to own the game in order to download the DLC. If you're planning on buying the game later, download the DLC now. It will be marked as "purchased" on the Marketplace, so you can delete it from your hard drive and download it later for free, even if the price goes up.

There's no such thing as a slow news day when posting about Mass Effect 2.

Seriously though, this was important to make. If you didn't see the last post on this a couple days ago, then you don't know. A couple people, including me, were going around telling everyone IT'S FREE...and 5 minutes later there was a new comment complaining about cutting content out to have as paid DLC.

It was infuriating.

People are pretty much artards when it comes to DLC. They just see the term and go into rage mode, rambling on about how the world is out to get them and everyone just wants to screw them over.

And of course, they don't actually read anything about it or try to apply any logic to it, they just rage like a bunch of mindless maddenites, the very same folks they blame their made up problems on.

I'm just amazed everything seems to think that the phrase DLC means "I have to buy it, so it pisses me off". Don't they know you have the option, ya know, NOT to?

Not sure, but i had read that some of the first day DLC is only going to be up on day 1, then gone after that. You have to use the cerebus network card to access it, from what i read they are doing it this way so people that pirate the game will be missing out on some extra content.

Piracy? Don't you mean a way of getting some revenue out of second hand sales since they see sweet FA from them at the moment?

There's no way it'd only be day 1, they'd piss too many people who get their games from Amazon off. First week maybe, but i bet it'll be longer than that. If you need the cerberus card to access it anyway something which will obviously only come with new copies, what's the point of making it day one only anyway?

Free day-one DLC doesnt mean its only free for one day. Since they cant control shipping having DLC be free only on launch day is stupid. Games will come with codes to redeem the DLC like a preorder bonus.

Oh my, non-existent crisis averted. This'll end up like Dragon Age, where it's for new copies only.

And if you don't like it, you shouldn't have bought Dead Space used.

I'm going to be the first person to discover a way of punching someone through a computer if this keeps up.

It's free. Who fucking cares if it should have been on the disc or not? The only way you could possibly have a problem with this is if you are renting the game, or getting it used.

In which case, tough luck. Buy the game.
