EA has confirmed it will only be shipping its $600 AUD ($550 USD), 250GB HDD-equipped "super elite" Xbox 360 bundle (breath) to Australia, according to a report from VG247. "This is a local bundle deal that the [EA Australia] team has sorted," an EA representative explained.
The bundle is said to contain two black wireless controllers (standard Microsoft issue) and a wired headset; a regular, non-fancy copy of Mass Effect 2; an Xbox 360 Elite (sans promotional artwork, unfortunately); and a 250GB HDD. Just like the Modern Warfare 2 "Super Elite" console, we imagine supplies will be limited -- to Australia, in this case.

You should have been here for the Beanie Baby craze. We went apeshit for those stupid things, and they weren't even fun to play with.

I just got booked for the Australian version of Fox News. They want to hear all about my theory that Mass Effect 2 is corrupting our youth with its violent lesbian alien debauchery. I'm going to describe to them the disgusting and graphic alien tentacle rape, and about how they can find tips for helping their kids in my new book. Clearly it is the fault of all these sinful corporations that this kind of filth is directed squarely at our children, and my book seeks to counter the brainwashing that this game has unleashed. Buying my book (conveniently available on Amazon) for 19.99 will entitle you to my other book (about how Avatar promotes smoking) for free! You'll only pay separate shipping and handling, plus a small processing fee! Act now and I'll DOUBLE your order, FREE! That's right, you'll get two copies of my book "Alien Rape: How it can happen to you if Bioware has their way" and "Puff Puff: The inside story".
Going on this type of show is great for book sales, right?

I see Left 4 Dead 2 has become a beacon of all gaming in Australia. If anyone on this site did any research at all, they would know the amount games that are permanently banned and never released is tiny (all of which are crap anyway), and the changes made to games censored are insignificant:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_video_games#Australia
The only games noteworthy to receive some sort of censorship include all the 3D GTA games, Left 4 Dead 2 and Silent Hill: Homecoming. Every other game on the list is D-Grade crap at the very best so noone cares. Fallout 3 got slightly censored too, but that ended up going global. So we've got a total of 6-7 games at the most that are worth mentioning and got censored out of....oh i dunno, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF GAMES IN EXISTENCE!?? Wow. Living in Australia sucks ass. -_-
Oh and as a reminder to all Aussie gamers. E-MAIL THE GOVERNMENT THE OFFICIAL PUBLIC SUBMISSION FORMS IN REGARDS TO THE R18+ RATING.

I know it's coming, but I want to hear about a Halo: Reach bundle. I'm putting off getting another 360 as I know MS will have one. Now I just hope it's one with a special case and not just a black Elite. I got the Halo 3 360 and the ODST controller, so I'm a total sucker for all things Halo related on the console side...

I just want the 250gb hard drive. I know that I'd never use all that space, but I'm an American consumer, damn it, and it's the biggest out there. So I want to own it.

Is it just me or does it seem MS is only selling the 250 GD Elites in bundles (smart move none the less)?

Well...if I was a betting man (And I'm not), I'd bet my dog that most people downvoted you on your need to post the entire comment in all caps. Not your insistence of a "phantom hard drive". Just tryin' to be helpful.

No mate, not "left, right and centre", just the odd game.
You should get a job in marketing. Bending reality with one little sentence. You're talented!
P.S. Michael Atkinson is still an ignorant fool, and a totalitarian bastard!

first the forza 3 bundle, and now the mass effect 2 bundle. australia? really? no offense to them, but australia hasn't put you on the map this generation, microsoft. the U.S. has. you owe us this much.
i know 2 people who would have bought the forza 3 bundle despite already owning an xbox 360. and i would buy this mass effect 2 bundle even though i already own this one.
but hey microsoft, if your new business strategy is to just give up sales, you're doing a stellar job.

Three consoles between you and your fiends, Microsoft don't know what there missing out on there. Besides if you actually read the article you see this line
"This is a local bundle deal that the [EA Australia] team has sorted," an EA representative explained.
So it not enough for you that 99% of games and online stuff is tailored for the US market and the fact that we pay more (in some cases nearly twice as much) for our games and services.
No you need to have what the other kids are playing with. Spoiled little kid syndrome or what.

spoiled little kid syndrome? wow, you're a fucking idiot. did you even bother to read what i said?
i'm just pointing out that it's bad business to keep bundles like these which would sell very well in the US in australian/european markets only. i'm not saying "keep this only in the US," i'm saying sell it everywhere. and that pisses you off why?

There was, of course, the MW2 360 bundle. I went to best buy and saw AT LEAST 40 of these stacked in the middle of the aisle. Then, days later, it got cut in half. They were sold out in about a week.
These Super Elite consoles sell like hotcakes here in Boise, and I couldn't imagine how well they would sell in bigger cities. As I have witnessed, there is a market for these in the US, and I agree, it would probably be dumb for Microsoft not to release more limited edition bundles stateside.

Several magazine reviewers have stated that there isn't even any Mako this time around. When you find a sidequest planet they put you and your party at the site of the quest and you do the mission on foot.

Meh, the Mako is kind of clunky but bearable on PC. I wouldn't want to cross those planets on foot, although I guess the explorable areas weren't actually all that big.

not related to the article but figured it might prove useful........mass effect DLC is on sale this week on XBL (including both pinnacle station and bring down the sky).

i figure a lot of people are doing playthroughs of mass effect in anticipation of mass effect 2 (i know i am, trying to get to level 60), so this might be something to check out.

I'm doing the same. I had an issue with my hard drive a while ago, killing my save, so I'm trying to put in one last playthrough to nab the insanity achievement (my last one).

I reached lvl 60 and it was awesome but yeah I've started a few playthroughs to get different outcomes with the events that will carry over. I finally decided 240 Microsoft Points was what Pinnacle Station was worth to me. I bought Bringing Down the Sky on day one, awesome DLC. Bioware so knows me haha.
