yup.....now you guys can see how we venezuelans have it here.....this expropriated a supermarket chain AND an un unfinished mall yesterday......besides over 50 percent of venezuelans are poor, and even if we weren' we still wouldnt be able tu purchase a new console OR games here since they cost twice as much as in the US, so it wouldnt be possible that our high crime rates are caused by this....this guy is a real danger i tell you, i know it, since i live here...

dude, we really are being oppressed. And no, stuff here costs way more than twice of US, and after recent devaluation and forthcoming inflation, that proportion is def. not going better.

Please take Chavez's comments regarding any particular subject as a comedic performance rather than with any seriousness at all, he's just an embarrassment to the Venezuelan people.

Cool, I'll just leave my PS3 next to the hole in the wall, that will take care of those pesky cockroaches, mouses and other pests.

well try to live in a country where national channels have to air his 4 hours long conferences and such, then realize you should indeed take seriously his uber stupid ideas, cuz most likely hell eventually get to work on them.

Mother fucker, I just cant hate him any more.

Joystiq, could you stop inserting hyperlinks into every forth word of an article (slight exaggeration)? Links to other content can be a useful tool on the Web and it helps to ensure that the reader is actively engaged rather than just passively viewing the content. But there is such a thing as overkill. IMHO, too many links become a distraction to the article.

Chavez, buddy, Taking away violent video games and replacing them with educational ones will only anger adults, thus causing A LOT more violence.... expect your crime rates to rise much higher sir.... I know I'd grow pretty violent if I couldn't play my "Super Murder Simulator VI"

Banning violent video games is certainly going to stop those widespread, highly organized criminal gangs from running amok in your country. Hooray for scapegoats.

I really don't think Chavez, as nutty as he may be, believes that banning violent video games will do any of that. There's no need to respond to nuttiness with your own nuttiness.

Honestly, if I lived in a place where 1 in 3,000 people were being murdered, I probably wouldn't mind seeing a ban on violent video games. Would I think it would instantly prevent all murders around me? Of course not. But even if it decreases the likelihood of a murder by an extremely small percentage, I don't see what the big deal is.

According to the statistics I gathered, the # of murders in Venezuela is 1 in 3,000.
In Detroit, it's 1 in 2,000.

Yeesh.

Uh, not selling resources. Think Star Trek. Instead for the pursuit/advancement of income. It'll be for the pursuit/ advancement of the human race.

The only way to turn youths against socialism is when socialists criticize videogames.

Or if socialism starts dating their moms, wants them to call it "Dad", refers to them as "kiddo", and tries to have "the talk" with them when they're 17.

It only does everything: Kill roaches | Opens really tough (or easy) gates to supernatural lands. I mean seriously, is there anything else it can do?

I'm pretty sure Chavez has one with all that corruption money, probably got owned in cod or something.
