I can't believe people's audacity in complaining about Episode 3... Do you realize that Team Fortress 2 was announced by Valve at E3.... in 1999!!!???

I remember making a glorious TF2 clan webpage on geocities back when making sites like those was cool in anticipation for the game... that never came...

TF2 was supposed to be like what this new MAG game on PS3 is looking to be like -- persistant warfare in a battlefield with a commander class guiding the ground troops, helos, etc. Instead we got a Pixar movie with no grenades, no swimming or demoman det packs, no more hunted mode or canal zone, no vehicles and stuff, and no massive 64 on 64 battles like TFC could do back in the dial-up days :-(

Not that I'm complaining, I like the new TF2 a lot too, I just wish I could have got the old one.

I really, really hope it isn't taking them this long to create another 2-3 hour jaunt. Episodes 1 and 2 were alright, but far from great. Here's hoping the next is amazing!

Personally, I liked Episode 2 even better than HL2. Especially the final battle.

Yeah, I can understand that. The outdoor areas were pretty slick. Episode One on the other hand...

I think Valve should address the Half-Life situation. It's been so long, with just teases, that it's high-time for someone to just come out and say something.

Why is Mr. Freeman talking the the comic up there ?
As long as I know, he talks as much as that GTA3 guy (who actually don't have a name).

Was anybody actually expecting it?
If anyone was, they were probably also expecting Duke Nukem Forever.

I don't even remember what that game was about; a bunch of blokes with silly hats getting things thrown at them right?

I prefer the one about the intelligent and psychotic house that lies about cake.

Lol!!
Yeah I didn't really plan on needing to upgrade my pc until at least 2011!

As alot have said, if this is for HL3 and a new engine thats great, as long as it doesn't take another 4 years or something daft. I think they need to change the game alot anyway now. I loved HL2 and the two episodes but I felt by the end of episode 2 the story needs to take some kind of big turn or something

nonononono...with the way episode 2 ended they can't just make a full sequel, people who pick up the game wouldn't know what was going on, a good sequel picks up where the other left off, but kind of cushions new player and reminds them what happened in the previous game, I played hl2 before hl, but by the middle of the game I knew that something bad happened at black mesa and aliens invaded. and I saved the day or...something (I played the first game and I still don't understand how i'm important to anyone but the vorganauts)

Fuck valve and fuck Left 4 Dead. The whole zombie thing was stale in 2008.

Adding Valve to my shit list (along with Infinity Ward) of 'developers who swallow the semen of xbox 360 while simultaneously shitting on the faces of PC gamers '.

Go ahead and downvote me, bitches.

Nooooo!!! Damn it, damn it!!!

I can't stand the Valve hatred anymore. Valve is by far and away my favorite developer, by clearly I made a mistake by swearing my allegiance to PS3 instead of buying an Xbox. I picked up the Orange Box the day I bought my PS3, and haven't had a sniff of a Valve game since. That's crap.

Textbook Valve move. This time they're working out the bugs in their new micro-transaction engine. In order to get the beginning, middle, and end, you'll need to buy it as DLC. Call it episodic-episodic content.

This is bullshit! Gabe Newell needs to get off his fat ass and do something. Everyone is to afraid to say something about him, because they don't want to offend him, but I'm tired of waiting. That's all this series has been about... waiting. I'm sorry, but he obviously hasn't realized that the customer is in charge; not him. We want to see more half-life, and we don't want to wait anymore! That is why I'm proposing that, throughout the week of 2/15, we all send letters to Gabe telling him how angry we are, about the lack of communication for HL2 ep3. If we all join in on this, there's no way he can ignore us... the customer is in charge! We want some info!... some screen shots!... something! If any of you are going to join me in this, please spread the word, I can't do this alone. The address for Valve is:

PO BOX 1688
Bellevue, WA 98009

Try and be somewhat respectful... were trying to get him to see our point of view, not completely piss him off.

There will be no episode 3 just because they just want to release shitty, overrated games like "left 4 dead"

FU valve, catering to the masses instead of producing quality will mark the end of your reputation.

I bet if they DO ever release it, it will be a mere 3 hours of gameplay.

Maybe Gabe Newell is in the wrong business. He should work for the post office, they seem to have the same dedication.

*Shudders* Don't even mention that, the thought of buying a three hour game that took four+ years to release makes me want to cry.

One particular thing I liked about the episodes is that they weren't too resource taxing. A lot of games around the time episode 2 came out needed higher specs than games that came out the same year as the original hl2. So i was still able to play the sequels on my pc from 2004 (albiet with minimus graphicus). I give valve due praise for that.

How ever, EVERYTHING technology wise has moved on a great deal since then, so valve will probably have increased requirements for the next game since it will give visual benefits, and probably better physics and gameplay mechanics and all the rest of it. Sadly, i may not be able to play episode 3/half life 3 on my comp, but hey at least i'm not breaking my balls and whining about it. it's only a game after all. it'll be released when it's released (and hopefully it will be :P), and the people at valve are smart enough to make it worth the wait, since it means an increase/drop in revenue/popularity.

Just tighten ya belts and get on with life!

One thing is on my mind.... Why would Valve release the information to game informer over pc gaming? GI is a Gamestop magazine, and Gamestop is known for not supporting much pc gaming. Kind of seems fishy.
