Maybe they'll give it a different name, but taking place in the same world, thats still the franchise.

I suppose the good news of this is that with the motion controller releasing, killing will be all the more satisfying, yes you can jump from the top of the couch and brutally stab your controller into the floor. Yes, you can swing your controller around and whack your girlfriend with it.

Oh yeah nothing gratuitous about ripping off a guy's head and using it as a lantern!

"How is this technology different from the one employed by Naughty Dog and Uncharted 2?

Ours is a soft-body collision which allows us to take any character, organic character, and turn that into a level. I think that's a pretty unique approach."

How is that technology different from that which was employed by SCEI Team ICO and Shadow of the Colossus?

I didn't read ICO anywhere in that comparison, so I guess it's valid for him to say it.

There can be lots of ideas for a new addition to the series

God of War teams up with Martin Luther to battle the evil church. Idk, give me a break.

Just the same levels with different monsters/puzzles + the original game or something along those lines. But hey I don't own a ps3 or a god of war game so I'm not bashing it.

For fuck's sake, just let it go after this. I like God of War as much as the next guy, but there's nothing worse than a franchise that's whored out shamelessly. Do what you set out to do with it in the first place, tell whatever story you want to tell, and then move on to something new. That doesn't just go for God of War, either. There's something to be said for ending a series on a high note.

Lol, isn't that another TRILOGY that didn't want to plaster the market in Halo, yet we got Wars and ODST and Reach thrown at us :)

Hey Maverick, at what point in my comment did you conclude I wanted 10 more Halos or Marios? Was it the part where I said "This doesn't just go for God of War"?

I didn't imply you did, I was just adding to your point two other games that are whored out, although, technically Mario never set out to be a trilogy, while Halo did. Devs always say TRILOGY or ENDING but rarely actually mean it, especially when its a money maker. Why take a risk on a new project that could earn them less when they could play safe (which ruins the purpose of the plot) and continue on a series that was supposed to have ended.

Though I wouldn't be suprised if ten more Halos released, Reach 2, ODST 2, Wars 2, deary dear

Thrown at us? Serious? Each Halo game, save for ODST, had a 3 year development cycle.

:/ Doesnt change the fact that they were thrown at us. Whats that? You wants more Halos? Here, has another one. It really doesnt make a difference how long they took to develop it or the fact they are spin-offs or prequels, the point of the matter is that Halo was a trilogy, adding a prequel defeats the purpose of a trilogy. As for spin-offs, again, its just a cheap way to keep a series going without actually keeping the series going after the trilogy. Not that anyone is complaining as such, because the last two extra halo games were fun, and I'm sure Reach will be as well. But all that talk about it being a trilogy, I don't take it seriously, I'm pretty sure Gears will live long and prosper long after the trilogy has ended, just because people like it. Makes me wonder why bother calling it a trilogy, just keep it going.

Can't wait for this game, and if they do decide to continue it, I hope they don't make pointless spin-offs, not that Chains of Olympus was bad, but it looses the TRILOGY feel.

I've kept myself secluded from most articles and media related to GoW III just so I won't ruin the experience when it is released.

Is this basically the same team, minus David Jaffe, that did the first two God of War games? Or is this mostly a new group?

For the most part yeah. The only ones that leave after each game tends to be the directors (which if I remember correctly, is jokingly considered the "God of War Curse").

Well not really; in each case, a lower staff member got promoted to director once the previous director left. Jaffe was the lead designer on GOW1 and Cory Balrog was second in command. When Jaffe left, Corey Balrog had sole duty on GOW2, and when Balrog left, Stig Asmussen (who I believe was the art director on GOW1 and 2) directed GOW3.
