The web slingin/swingin was the best part of Web of shadows.. the voice acting was hilariously bad though

Spider-Man 3 for the DS was fantastic. I don't know what he's talking about.

The only way they can make this good imo series better would be to get the Spider-Man 2 movie game dev team back and reimplement the Spider-Man 2 webslinging system which was the most complex of any Spider-Man game ever. Spider-Man 2 movie game is also the best free roaming game in the series though ultimate, 3 and web of shadows were all also pretty good.

I became addicted to the rhythm of the web swinging.

Hold x, release. Press R2, then hold L2. Repeat.

It was so fluid, and it was a blast trying to turn at different angles or jump off the highest buildings and press R2 at the last moment. The sense of speed was amazing. I would load up the games just to web swing some times. And i'm sure i'm not alone.

But those damn balloons...

I enjoyed Web of Shadows, but I would like to see Spider-man games go the direction of Batman games as of late. Give the rights to Rocksteady so they can make a Spider-man game.

I very much enjoyed the old Spider-man games back on playstation 1 hell. The only Spider-man game i enjoyed on "newer" console was Ultimate Spider-man on PS2 which i thought was pretty decent but still fun to play

I really loved Web of Shadows, i think it was the best spider-man game yet, not saying a whole lot but still i thought it was great. If they had just had better voice actor's and fixed the camera it would have been perfect

if they want the spiderman games to be decent they need to make it similar to Infamous... that game was awesome and climbing stuff was easier and more fluent than it has ever been in any game

Why would you want that in a spider-man game? Spider-Man is able to climb any wall, outcroppings or not, that's why he's cool. Also, fucking web swinging! Come on!

Spider-man does suck though, so the games sucking just means they are true to the source material. What's wrong with that?

What this shit is he smoking? Ultimate Spider-man was pretty good I thought... everytime something comes out of this guy's mouth he sounds like an even bigger douche than before.

What made Ultimate Spider-Man so good was the ingenious writing by your hero and mine: Mr. Brian Michael Bendis.

I mean, the gameplay was solid too, but let's face it, it wasn't THAT much different from Spidey games before it.

Spiderman 2 for the GameCube was awesome, though repetitive. but what game doesn't get repetitive?

Honestly I think Activison had a pretty good run for a while. Starting with that old PS1 game I remember playing as a kid (the one that wasn't based on the movie), up until Ultimate Spider Man, which wasn't too bad. But the last three (Web of Shadows, Friend or Foe, Spider Man 3), have all been pretty terrible. I could do with a refresher. Even if it's only as good as that Wolverine game, I really could do with a decent Spidey game again.

"We went away from what is Spider-Man," Kotick said. "It's about web-slinging. If you don't do web-slinging, what is the fantasy of Spider-Man?"

If any CEO is in touch with what the common Spider-Man fan wants, Kotick isn't the first guy that normally comes to my mind.

In fact I'd be surprised if he can tell the difference between a good and bad game without looking at a financial report and some target demographic polling

Personally, I had a blast with Web of Shadows. It wasn't a terrible game, played well and had a decent enough story... and an infinitely better one than when they were forced to follow the movies and use Tobey "I Sound Monotonous" Macguire.

Graphics were good, the Spidey animations were amazing and well done, for once, the RPG elements were pretty cool, combat was an absolute blast and, again, the story wasn't half bad. Best Spidey games since the first one on PSX/N64, for sure.

Spider-Man on PSX: Great
Spider-Man The Movie: Great
Spider-Man The Movie: 2: Great
Maximum Carnage: Great
Serperation Anxiety: Great

All others are FAIL.

I think everyone will be in agreement that the last good Spider-Man game was Ultimate Spider-Man, which used the Spider-Man 2 formula and added a cool style to it. After that, things went downhill. Friend or Foe taking the prize for the "What were you thinking?" Award.
