It's because consoles have a certification process that patches have to go through.

Hopefully this patch will be enough, I mean with a game as popular as MW2... for sure another hacker will try to exploit it again and before you knew it, we're back to square one again.

Although, you can't deny that some hacks are just pretty cool to use: http://tiny.cc/mw2bughack
.. but some are just made to give you a headache.

Also, Did Bowling tell you guys the speed hack was fixed? Because the Care Package speed thing is more of a rebalancing after unintended results.

the only weapon i can think of that needs balancing is the 1887 akimbo + FMJ cause its the same thing as the old 1887 akimbo.

The noobtube + one man army + danger close setup needs to be nerfed BAD. Seriously if you think the models are bad (they are) just wait. This setup has been steadily getting more popular lately.

Also commando+lightweight+marathon. Seriously, is it really a shooter if your knife is your best weapon?

Infinite Chuck Norris powered noobtubes and claymores (or Frags/Semtex). not to mention the power added to kill-streaks (yes danger close adds power and radius to air strikes and chopper-gunner). Someone can get a nuke in 2 minutes if they want with that setup. Most of the time they just keep playing to up their K/D ratio.

@Traceur

I know I am going to sound stupid defending the knife class. I like to do it so go ahead and flame me. But I takes a bit of skill to recognize the map and flank the enemy with just a knife in hand, it also takes a bit of skill to angle yourself in stabbing four guys in a row when they are bunched together. I have had friends try the setup and royally suck with it. Sure it might seem unbalanced at times, but thats because the player is good.

Any class with marathon and lightweight is pretty annoying.i have one class with a ump silenced marathon, lightweight, and, ninja. It takes no skill. It's like playing halo. Is it OP? no. Cheap? yes.

anyway, I'm not going to comment on commando...

Is this even an issue on PS3? I play every night for about an hour to two hours and I haven't seen anything yet.

As for balancing weapons, here are a few things things:

- RPG needs to be slightly more accurate.
- I second "noobtube + one man army + danger close setup needs to be nerfed BAD" but I'm not sure how.
- Silencers should remove the killcam. What good is it to be a silenced sniper if you can still see where I killed you from?

i agree completely with leobebes. it takes genuine skill to be able to use a pure knifing class. if you don't know what you're doing with that class, you will get your ass handed to you 100% of the time. you need extremely good knowledge of the map and enemy routes to be able to stand a chance using that class. that noob tube class the people above mentioned? that's a class that takes no real skill to use. just camp and pop off a noob tube when you see a guy run by.

Lightweight seems very overrated to me. After the last patch, do you know what it does? It increases your running speed by 7%.

For me, that's not even worth using a perk slot on. Complaining that it is overpowered or unbalanced when using it in a build seems pretty silly.

I have encountered both knifers and noob-tubers in matches, but I've never seen them consistently dominate good players. It adds some variety, but it feels pretty balanced to me.

- Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s.

i guess that's what you wanted me to see? well that's awesome!

Lightweight comes in handy when using a LMG or more-so when playing a riot shield class. I find Marathon, Lightweight, Comando, Blast Shield, Smoke Grenade, Riot Shield to be an amazingly effective class in game modes that aren't deathmatch/kill based, the best example being when playing capture the flag.

Well, I'm a MW noob since i skipped on COD4 and just started playing MW2, and I have to say that I started using commando+lightweight+marathon because it was really easy for me to use and get cheap kills.

Don't do it anymore because it made the game really dumb and have since changed my strategy, but I know there are some really K/DR obsessed players so I know many use it.

Unfortunately, Modern Warfare 2 is one of the top played PC games right now. It peaks at around 150,000 concurrents which is about half of the PS3's peak, but it's still a very large amount.

I kind of feel like this patch is going to add some other glitch to the game. Not saying this is done on purpose though.

I don't really play the CoD series all that much, but if a game whose value lies in its multiplayer needs so many patches when it is barely 4 months old, something is wrong.

Well, PSN will be next, followed by Live, if past trends are to follow.

Makes sense, right? The platform with the issues is the LAST to be patched.

I'm no fan of IW, but to say that this game is having problems only on the ps3 is douchey, while i get what you are saying, it is of course easier to release a patch for xbox and PC (basically the same thing), that it would be to release it for the PS3.

just because it takes longer to do it for the ps3 doesn't mean everyone needs to suffer till it's ready.

Huh? I was saying the 360 would be patched last, because Microsoft's certification always takes longer. And the 360 is where the XP glitch is.

@Brian (PC gamer extraordinaire)

Huh? He's saying the 360 version is being patched last ("PSN will be next, followed by Live) and it's also the version that has appeared to have the most issues (evidenced by the earlier post today about the experience glitch that seemed to be only on 360).

And the reason that it takes the longest to for the patch to reach 360 has to do with Microsoft's certification process, has nothing to do with IW.

And since the 360 has the most issues, it should be the one that is patched the fastest. Especially since it most likely has the largest install base for MW2.

in their defense, most of these problems are genuine hacks that douche users do. only a couple like the javelin were glitches that were IW's fault, and they fixed all of those (models and care package running to add a few examples). yeah, the multiplayer had some problems, and probably will have some later on, but at least they're getting the fixes out relatively fast.

According to the notes they patched the package speed hack. Finally! Atleast this was one advantage of buying through steam(well that, and it was on sale for $30), instant updates, less hackers. Although I wish they made the Ak-47 more accurate.

imo its TOO accurate. the idea behind the ak is that you have a ton of huge bullets flying out of the barrel with the hopes that at least one will hit and most likely kill.

the AK is not supposed to be accurate if based on a real life senario since it shoots the 7.62 round it has much higher recoil and makes the gun heavier. that's why most terrorist organizations you hear about use it all you have to do is hold onto it and pull the trigger and they're probably going to kill something in real life.
