The real treat is the fact that you get a poke stopwatch. Sure the games gonna be fun but really whats more fun a great game or a stopwatch shaped like a pokeball. YOU be the judge!

This is deja vu all over again for me. I might get a DS, well maybe not for this game but dammit, I feel like im missing out on games like this that are old school franchises. Not to mention Nintendo brings me back good memories, boy do I have history with these games... AHH yes red and blue one of my first and fav RPG of all time ... I would put my fat gameboy down either because the batteries were dead or because it was a school night, either way after it was off, I would still hear the music in my head....in my headddd!...zombieee!..*cough*

These color names are getting more ridiculous every generation. I miss Red and Blue.

I'd argue releasing the same game multiple times with slight variations to entice multiple purchases by rabid collectors and completionists is ridiculous from the onset.

Could you imagine buying Mass Effect and only getting to play with certain characters/classes in one edition (let's call it Onyx Black) and having to purchase the complimentary edition (N7 Red) just to have access to all the content? I swear, if collecting the little bastards wasn't so much fun, I'd swear off Pokemon just out of principle.

It's Nintendo.. what do you expect? All they do is rehash old IPs using the same template but barely improving it. Look at Zelda for instance.

Let's not turn this into yet another needless Nintendo bash-fest. The color scheme works for those kinds of games, such that it compels serious completionists, but it really has no impact on the average consumer.

It wouldn't work for a game like Mass Effect, story-driven as it is, but for a collection game, it works fine.

I'm buying both. Keeping the HeartGold in the package and playing SoulSilver. I mean come on, we all know it was the best out of the games (not that ranking it in any system has any credibility.) By March 14th I must have a DSi or DS.

I'd say go with a DSlite. Even if you don't have any GBA Pokemon games now, a DSi will completely prevent you from importing because it lacks the GBA slot.

nevermind, did my own research. Which leads me to question why they just didn't remake the originals?

Not for DS, but for Advance. Which, if you have the DS or DS Lite, can play the Advance games.

They remade the originals for GBA as a way of being able to get all 3 hundred some at the time because R/S/E couldn't trade with the first 2 gens.

Now, they're remaking the 2nd gens for DS as a way of being able to get all 493 (not counting event only ones....although toys r us and wireless downloads have made those less of an issue now) without having to import fro the GBA. With the DSi breaking back compatibility, and a much larger audience than may have never played the earlier games, it makes sense.

Incidentally, they created a rather awkward situation with the Regis as a result. You can only get Regigagas in D/P/P normally by importing regirock/ice/steel from the GBAs...but you can't get the 3 of them in any of the 4th gen games in the wild except Platinum except with an event-specific Regigagas
