Syfy, the network formerly known as Sci-Fi before it experienced a tragic spelling accident, will broadcast Sci vs. Fi: Mass Effect 2 numerous times over the next week. The half-hour special is supposed to take an "in-depth look at both the science and fiction of Mass Effect 2" -- but you'd never be able to extrapolate that from the above fluffy marketing clip. The "documentary" features the game's voice actors, like Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) saying whatever they want, along with industry perspective from "journalists Jessica Chobot and Adam Sessler."
The special premieres tonight at 11PM EST/PST and 10PM middle-time. Find a listing of additional airdates after the break. Find us contemplating Sci-Fi's name change for the rest of eternity.
Additional dates and times:
Several clips, if not the whole thing (I didn't watch), were put on the Bioware forums and people were saying the show is very spoiler heavy so viewer beware. I've made it within 6 days of release without running into anything serious, so I'm not about to sabotage that just to watch this.
Yeah I actually just finished listening to it about half an hour ago. It's only 37 minutes long and there isn't any spoilers that I could pick out. Casey's very careful when it comes to spoilers.
The launch trailer that's going around on Gamespot and Gametrailers, while epic and unbelivably awesome, is pretty spoiler heavy. I kinda wish I didn't see it.
I haven't seen the trailer yet so I'll take that as a warning :) Been kinda avoiding the video stuff in the last week up to launch.
I'm glad I listened to the podcast rather than waiting, though (just finished it up myself.) Was pretty good and yeah no real spoilers like you said. Nice bit of fanservice and it's interesting to hear info straight from the source that sometimes might not be shared.
Mass Effect 2 is my most anticipated game, by far (just a year ago I would have KILLED for some confirmation of it being possibly announced)... But even I'm getting a bit tired of hearing about it.
I haven't watched a trailer for it since it's E3 announcement, and this is the first time I've ever commented in a ME2 article as far as I'm aware. I just want the game to come out, they sold me the second the first game started.
Let me join the club in that I'm purchasing this game the day it comes out and I am sick of hearing all these stories. I also haven't watched any of these trailers, specials, etc. I'm just waiting for the sequel to come out and just play it. Simple as that. : )
The first one was pretty awful, just a crummy MTV style documentary with d list celebrities and those game journalists that like being on video talking about how cool the game is... Interupted by a few seconds of Casey Hudson actually talking about the design of the game and the science fiction aspect.
I want nothing to do with the Metal Gear series anymore. It ended with 4, and I'm done with it. Besides, it ended at just the right time as the gameplay was really starting to show its age...couldn't keep up with modern games.
And Dante's Inferno is garbage, specially compared to GOW 3.
Infamous and resistance are both terrible games too. I'm letting you have ME2 in this deal, a gem of gems, you can't offer me garbage in return. I actually feel like I'm losing in this deal, but I'll settle with just GOW 3 :P
Are they going to stream this out from their website at some point? why don't get syfy channel here in Canada because it's sort of in competition with a canadian science fiction channel we have here called Space TV.
Ashley was annoying... (and I kept her alive despite that fact) Kaidan was annoying, Garrus and Wrex were awesome. Tali and Liara were kind of the same to me... not annoying, not particularly spectacular, but I did use Tali all the way in my second playthrough.
And yeah... I will agree, Arch.. Navi was pretty damn annoying too:D
Urdnot Wrex is the most edgy and gritty character in the universe, and he's arguably one of the best written characters in gaming storytelling history... What's your complaint again?
There's three types of people, as elaborated by Team America, and they all have and deserve great representation in Mass Effect.
