I dunno, I can see some green and some yellow in that screen shot. That's at least 2 more colors than Gears of War 2.

Well..... maybe this is the type of game that Japanese want but couldn't (or didn't want to) get. Gears is a 360 exclusive, and the 360 doesn't sell particularly well in Japan. And the Japanese demographic seems more willing to buy from Japanese developers than other devs.

Drew, that is damn true and I had never really approached it from that viewpoint so, you might be on to something there.
I kinda wish Japanese gamers were willing to buy some great games from the devs here.. they are missing out. I'm curious to see what Mass Effect 2 sales will be like in Japan when it hits (or.. if it even will? anyone know?)
At any rate... I guess we Americans are just as bad for that. I get tired of hearing "JRPGS need to die/change" just to suit us. I grew up on consoles so I guess to me, a game's a game no matter where it's from.
You do have to admit, though, that some JP devs/publishers are totally coming across like "we really have to appeal to the NA market!!!!" Nier being a good example. I like what Atlus does, they are probably my favorite publisher from overseas.. don't change anything don't require a flow chart to understand how the hell their game is getting released here, it just does.
Oh and, no worries re: mixing up replying to me. Just blame the Joystiq comment system:) I go to sleep and dream of the day that I wake up to a post from Justin explaining the details on the overhaul of the site. It's about due for one.

I'm not saying this from a standpoint of it being non-western developed game but.. every time I see screenshots I feel like laughing:/
I haven't played Gears of War 1 or 2 so I have no frame of reference.. it does look an awful lot like those.. it is completely.. this weird sort of "here's what western gamers want, amirite??" feel to it.
Just.... make games. Stop trying to "be something" to the western audience and just make some damn good games. Enough with this silly behaviour.

Remember everyone, just because a game's design, character animations, gameplay and roadie run resemble that of this generations marquee third person shooter with cover system doesn't mean anything. This game was obviously inspired by Max Payne or Syphon Filter before Gears because they did it first. Even though nobody cares about them anymore (relatively speaking), it would be a great idea to model your game after them.

While Gears didn't invent the 3rd person shooter, they sure set a standard. After trying Army of Two:40th Day, I'll easily wait for GoW3 while bypassing this as well.

I'm not against it entirely... For all I've said up to this point if I play this game and end up thinking "This game is effin' amazing!!!" Then I'll buy it and be the first to say I was wrong. Time will tell, I guess.

I have not been interested in this title but some of my Ps3 friends have and they all wanted to get it at first when details where sketchy, and alot of people assumed it was going to be co-op like gears, and it was exclusive to PS3.
But now that it has gone multiplatform and its one player I know a fair amount of Sony fanboys are not getting it now since they can no longer say, "Hey 360 we got are own Gears type game now."
Its because of this very idea I doubt the game will sell half of what it could of sold if it stayed ps3 exclusive, and had co-op.
