After Burner Climax XBLA screens soar into view [update]

Though we've yet to hear official word from Sega on whether After Burner Climax is jetting to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, Gameswire has obtained "by hook or by crook" a plethora of gorgeous screens -- 26, to be exact -- which it reports as coming from the XBLA version.

Late last year, the flight action was rated by both the Australian and Korean boards, with classification applied for by Sony. While you peruse these shots, we'll keep bugging Sega about some proper details.

Update: Sega of Japan has confirmed (via 1UP) After Burner Climax's release this spring for ¥900 ($10) on PS3 and 800

(also, $10) for Xbox 360. We're still following up with Sega of America for confirmation of a North American release.

I've been waiting for this game since I saw the Japanese Arcade machines a couple years back.

That's why they call it 'After Burner CLIMAX'!

Speaking of moving game seats, does anyone know if such a seat is available to consumers anywhere? I'd love to buy a motion seat.

If you're going to remake a classic, do this. Same with Super Street Fighter 2 HD. Keep the gameplay about the same, but just freshen up the graphics. This looks amazing!

I wish they would do this with The Lost World arcade game. I would buy whatever system that came out on and get a light gun. Funness would abound.
After Burner Climax is a very good arcade. Especially when you find a machine that you sit in and it moves with your aircraft's movements. Very fun. Looking forward to this release (whenever it is).

Great game and all, but one of the joys of playing Afterburner was the control stick and throttle controller. It just won't be the same on the analog sticks on the 360 and PS3 controller.

Generally speaking, the words "After", "Burner", and "Climax", should only go together after a long weekend in Reno.

This, however, is all sorts of awesome.

i was watching the karate kid the other day and saw this game in the arcade they were in, made me miss this game, i wasted so much money on it. pretty rad it's coming out.

Dont forget Terminator 2 as well. It popped up there when the BAD terminator was looking for John Connor - he was sat playing it when his mate told him the cops were after him :D

I spent many of my pocket money when a child rolling around in the superb rolling arcade machine, the first one I had to be strapped into!! Barrel Roll!!!!!

Maybe the addition of the word "climax" at the end of the title would improve a lot of video games...

Really awesome remake and I say it's about time they bring it to consoles...

Our local D&B has AB Climax, in the moving simulator cabinets, and it it definitely an awesome game. Instant purchase, for me.

Now if they'd bring Planet Harriers to XBLA as well, all would be right with the world.

Now this is awesome. I remember playing the first two After Burner games on the Genesis. I believe I still have them. Probably the first group of games I ever played for it. The graphics look good but for a retro / arcade but would look better with an HD update for the NA PSN. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Well I don't know how but the game is available on the Usenet for JTAG'd Xbox 360's.The game is awesome
