While the graphics do looks a little better its not a huge difference. But Im worried about gameplay not graphics. I want it to still feel like Halo but refreshing.

Okay maybe its a different engine but he's right. Am I the only one who's extremely underwhelmed at this point? If this article said Halo 3 ODST DLC revealed, no one here would second guess it, aside from the different looking jackals and multiple spartans.

obviously these shots wont do the final product justice... (i hope). So in the meantime I'm just gonna keep telling myself that ODST was worth 80CAD for this games beta. (I already had the halo3 maps so don't even start!)

Are you guys serious? You guys can't tell the difference in the graphics from Halo 3/ODST to Reach?

Miranda vs. Kat:

Halo is Halo. It's not Uncharted, Gears of War or Call of Duty. It has it's own art style (purple tanks for fuck's sake) and if I recall, Halo still sits at the top of the list as far as gameplay is concerned (I know that's a minor thing for most of you but it's kind of a big deal to me).

Now STFU.

The graphics are better than ODST which I played a few nights ago and looked horrible compared to AC2, U2, KZ2, and MW2. Although Reach looks better than ODST it does not look anywhere near as good as the 4 games I've mentioned.

I love halo and all but if the multiplayer is anything like Halo 3, I will most likely play it for the story only. The Halo 3 multiplayer SUCKS. Other people can't join the game while some punk 12 y/o kid bailed cause his mama told him to do his homework or watch AFV. I am sure Bungie does this so you don't "cheat" and get achievements but I could care less when I'm the only one taking on a team of 5! Fix your multiplayer Bungie. You can do it and maybe, just maybe you can topple COD:MW2.

Right now, I am playing L4D2 and COD MW2. Fix it or Halo 3 keeps getting dust.

Well they had to find something to replace the rampant t-bagging that's in current Halo games.

I kid, I kid. Looks like a bull-riding contest almost. Yee haw! Ride 'em cowboy... err, spartan!

FTA: "Assassinations are a new mechanic to Halo: Reach. There's now an alternative on some missions to going in with all guns blazing."

Sounds like a stealth mode.

And yes, I DO have a subscription to Game Informer. Traded in a bunch of games, and got a trade in bonus and Edge member bonus if I bought a new production. Game Informer subscription was the new item I purchased. Still ended up ahead after paying for it.

For the amount of things that leak out over the net, it would be naieve to assume they don't do it on purpose at times.

does the word 'exclusive' mean anything to you? If i was to promise you exclusive rights to a release shot of something that everyone wants to see, would you not be mad over another site getting ahold of it?

If Bungie doesn't push the XBOX too hard grahically they can afford to put more units on screen at anyone one time, thats all I care about.

Its not quite right that Halo 1 had the most epic battles of the 4 so far....
Hopefully Reach will fix this

Graphics almost look like they melded the Halo engine with the Unreal engine.

Lots of new weapons in those screens, and jackals look totally different. Wonder if they are going to try a class based multiplayer system this time.

*is cautiously hopeful*

In the first screen shot theres a dead Jackal identical to the old model, so clearly this time around, like in Halo:CE there will be numerous types of Jackal.

Variety by the barrel full!

The Jackal's have a cousin companion called Skirmishers. They run in groups and are meant to flank you around.

Also, one of the graphical appeals of the Halo games to me was the color. Why must it run from me? Am I ugly?

I know this is blasphemy, and believe me I actually am a big Halo fan, but I really want this game to feel less like Halo. I want visceral. I want loud. I want less floaty, more precise controls. I want to feel like I'm doing something bad ass when I'm firing a battle rifle. I want smoke on the battlefield. It doesn't need to be shades of brown and Spartans saying 'oscar mike', but getting a little Modern Warfare in my Halo would be welcomed by this gamer.

I can't play Halo 3 again. I just can't. If the multiplayer component is just THAT all over again.. blegh. It was fun; now it's not.

But what do I know, I'm just a big Jerk Face.

I still play halo's online multi-player, it was and still is rock-solid. Though I do understand the annoyance of the "floaty" feeling, if Bungie makes Reach as engaging as Modern Warfare, I'd play it all the more.

I agree.

At least ODST showed that Bungie's not afraid to mess with the formula a little. It had a different feel than Halo 3, even though there were very few changes to the engine, and that was a glorified expansion pack.

So hopefully we'll see some significant changes for Reach, especially given that it'll probably be Bungie's last hurrah on the 360.

And don't get me wrong - I don't need them to completely redo the game, because the Halo series has a lot of great things going for it. Things that should go forward. But it feels dated, gameplay wise. There is nothing about Halo that gives you the kind of exhilaration and adrenaline flow that something like escaping the Favela in MW2 did. Or, shit, ANY level in that game. Crazy story aside, the general FEEL of that game never lets up in any way. It's a thrill ride start to finish, to use a clichéd term.

I want that from Halo. I want dudes screaming during battle. I want blood. I want it to earn it's M-rating a little more, that's all. Give me a game that feels like real war in the 2500's. ODST approached this territory a few times, but didn't quite go far enough for me. Hopefully that's where they're going.

THIS!!!! +1 to Jerk Face...no matter how much people rag on MW2, I loved the feel of it...very gritty; much more realistic, so to speak. If they could just rid themselves of moon-jumping and put some sprinting in there, I wouldn't care if they didn't change much else on the formula that has gotten them this far.

Ugghh! +1000 to you for the sprint. That shit drives me insane in Halo. Sprinting is a complete necessity in the modern shooter!

i could type i a lot more than i will, but i just wanted to say that i disagree with most of what you said. yeah, Reach should have fairly tweaked gameplay, but the old Halo formula (i.e. 3) is timeless imo. not every shooter needs or should have sprint.

..Unless they posted them up early, then that's a totally different thing, but it's still a bit weird that all this attention for just pics. Ah, anyway..

On topic, I hope this game is kickass, it's been awhile since I've played ANY Halo game. I still remember the addiction the Halo series had, I liked it. I need to get me a new xbox live subscription though, it's been like a year or more since I last got one. I hope my bro still has live on his, would make a good present for him. He likes Halo...and plus I can borrow it lol yes I'm cheap..
