Persona 3 Portable coming to North America on July 6

Atlus is bringing an English-language version of Persona 3 Portable to the US. The PSP version of Persona 3 isn't a direct port of the original PS2 RPG. Instead, it streamlines the experience for handheld play and adds a new playable female character, with her own "Social Links, special events, and unique romantic opportunities." In addition, P3P adds a few cameos from Persona 4, and introduces five difficulty settings, ranging from "beginner" to "maniac." The battle system has also drastically changed, with players able to directly control teammates.

The UMD version will be available at retail on July 6th, with a PSN version expected soon after. Check out the box art after the break.

OMG finally! I thought they were never going to announce it!

Really looking forward to this, been a big fan of Persona for a long time.

I think it's been said in reviews that the PS2 games are still the best versions. Still, I'm looking forward to this release.

Yukari should definitely be up closer. Ken's not even in the picture (wonder if they removed him).

Well, Fuuka, Shinjiro, and Koromaru aren't pictured either and considering they're all in the trailer, I don't think they've been taken out

You can't fit everyone

Besides, they all come into play later in the story; those four are there at the start, and Aigis/Aegis(?) is the token gal of the game.

This just made my day...huge persona fan...but where is our persona 2 remake, with the full game this time (considering we only got half the game released on the ps here in the states)....oh well buying this game day one! Now I eagerly await the announcement for a next gen persona game.

They really need to do Innocent Sin for PSP. It's the best Persona game hands down.
Along, some Megaten remakes.

Shame that the definitive version of P3 is handheld though. I thought it would be over and done with FES.

I played the original: I thought it was inferior to P4.
