The justice system would like to apologize for being public. If Interplay and Bethesda hadn't fudged the muffin and ended up in court, we wouldn't know.

Regardless, we do know very little.

Sorry, Bethesda, not an MMO guy. I'll just wait for New Vegas.

I thought Bethesda wasn't making "New Vegas" themselves, kinda outsourcing it? or did i misunderstand something?

Obsidian(KOTOR 2, NWN2, Alpha Protocol) are making New Vegas, Bethesda are publishing it.

Did Bethesda buy Obsidian? Iirc, it belonged to Bioware, at least when they made KotOR II and NWN2...although they did say that its not really Fallout 4 so kinda makes sense

I never said they were making it. They sure are publishing it, though. With Chris Avellone on board (Planescape Torment, Fallout 2, etc) from Obsidian, New Vegas shall have a story with meat, unlike Fallout 3.

@Halgrimur

They never belonged to Bioware and they do not belong to Bethesda.

Got to love the morons with WoW was "there first" comments, when that is not even close to the truth.

An MMO off of a massive francise being made with practically no leaks for 3 years? Other than a few "it might exist someday" articles monthes ago, ive heard nothing about this game.

This would make it one of the best kept secerts in gaming history. Sony needs to buy a few secret keeping secrets from them.

I don't enjoy Oblivion or Fallout 3. At all, but I harbor no disrespect for Bethesda and their fans.

But still, I don't see why they would try to release an MMO. Well, maybe I do. I always figured Elder Scrolls would do well as an MMO. But with WoW and the numerous free clones spawning out of South Korea, as well as other MMO genres, entering right now while offering absolutely nothing new is really not even worth it, I think. At least TOL has the Star Wars thing going for it.

And unless you make an MMO the entire anti-WoW community would be willing to invest time in, you aren't really appealing ot anyone. Since WoW is still supported and giving people more content, they won't budge. And don't forget, Blizzard is on the road to another MMO IP.

But color me interested nonetheless.

Dude, calm down, they haven't even announced anything yet. How do you know what they're bringing to the table? Just put the jump to conclusions mat away for a while, let's wait to see what the official announcement has to say if/when it comes.

I just want Elder Scrolls 5, but I guess a bonus Elder Scrolls MMO can't be a bad thing. Or can it?

Todd Howard said in an interview recently that Zenimax Online was working on a "very big" game, and this would definitely fit the bill. However, Zenimax Online and Bethesda Softworks (TES, Fallout 3) are two different studios that are owned by the same publisher.

This is not the game that Todd Howard's studio is working on. If I were to guess I'd say that they are working on both Fallout 4 and TES V, but probably with a much bigger team on FO4 to get it out quicker.

In short - don't freak out. This really has no bearing on whether or not we will see a TES V (psst- we will).

Why the hell would they want Fallout 4 to come out quicker with Vegas coming out and Fallout 3 still being recent.

Howard said that there are no plans for another TES game back in August but he also said on the Kotaku podcast recently that they are working on a big game (not an MMO) and it's being built with a further-improved version of the Gamebryo engine (Fallout 3, TES IV & III use this engine). I'd say it's a safe bet that this "big game" is Fallout 4.

I'm guessing big game is the TES MMO, from UESP:

"In a more recent interview for Gamasutra dated June 25th, Hines let slip that 'On the flip side, Todd [Howard] and his team have their hands full with The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.' This suggests that some Elder Scrolls title, be it Elder Scrolls V or a spin-off along the vein of Redguard and Battlespire, is in production on some level."

Since, combined that with the recent interview where he said no plans for TES V at this time. I seriously doubt it's Fallout 4, since it's a safe bet that wouldn't be considered a big game. I mean sure big for most studios, but bethesda's stock and trade as massive open-ended RPGs. What's big compared to that though? An MMO.

But Todd Howard said, *last week*, that his team is NOT working on an MMO and all but confirmed that Zenimax ONLINE is. The interview where he said "no plans for TES" isn't recent, the Kotaku interview is.

I think when he said "no plans for TES" he meant that they aren't planning on announcing anything anytime soon since we pretty much know that they were working on TES V before they even started Fallout 3. They already said that a few years back and expected it to be done by this year, but then they started work on Fallout 3 and it put TES V on hold. That's why I said that I think they are probably still working on TES V but they probably have a lot more people on FO4.

It's also very important to note that he confirmed that the game that they are making is using Gamebryo. I've done a lot of tinkering with the versions that they used in FO3 & Oblivion and I can't see them using that engine to build an MMO. I don't claim to be an expert but it would make a lot more sense to me if they were to use a different engine to build an MMO because they would pretty much have to rebuild it from the ground up which would take a lot more time and money.

Also - according to VGChartz, Fallout 3 and Oblivion are pretty much even in terms of sales. But Oblivion has been out a lot longer. So, Fallout sells better but still couldn't be considered a "big game" compared to a TES game? Care to explain that one? Sounds like your personal preferences are swaying your opinion. For the record - I'd rather have TES V first as well.
