Aliens vs. Predator system requirements de-cloaked

Are you curious whether your computer's robot brain is beefy enough To Catch an Aliens vs. Predator? You don't have to stress about it any longer: Sega recently revealed the system requirements for the PC version of the game. There's nothing too prohibitive in there (unless you're still vehemently sticking to your Windows 95 OS), and as Big Download reminds us, AvP will be one of the first games to natively support DirectX 11. Minimum Requirements

Windows 7/ XP/Vista
1 GB System RAM (XP)/ 2 GB System RAM (Vista)
3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4/Athlon 64 3000+ or equivalent processor
DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 128 MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better, ATI X1600 or better)

Recommended Requirements

Windows 7/ XP/Vista
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or equivalent processor
2 GB System RAM
DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI HD2900 PRO or better)

I now have this intense urge to make an Alien vs. Predator Little Big Planet level where the players can be the AvP characters and work together to end poverty and violence while happy music plays.

There will be a baby facehugger in the sun, watching them.

Looks like im getting the 360 version then.

As always people, ignore the minimum and assume the "recommended" is "minimum" if you want the game to actually be playable.

If you're not on recommended or above, probably not worth trying.

Building my PC soon as this months paycheck goes through. Funny thing is, im building a £900 machine, and ill end up playing flash games like dofus on it lol.

As for the console bashing, I'm an xbox gamer at heart and always have been since its inception. I love interacting with my friends on live and I love seeing my gamer score grow. Sorry you don't agree with my choice.

Aliens vs Predator is supposed to be one of the games that will really pushes graphics hardware. It's using DirectX 11 and will have heavy use of tessellation. Have you seen video of the tessellation of the Aliens? It's crazy.

Well my computer came with an integrated graphics chip. So technically I added the graphics card and BTW I never said I "couldn't run it", I just said it was a "different story".... genius.

I become a fanboy of whatever system I own. I was a Sony/PS3 fanboy until my PS3 kicked the bucket. Now I am a current PC fanboy, I can't help but be smug and "douchey" towards the "peasant" consoles at times. Sometimes, they do ruin things for PC gaming but I don't recall PCs ever negatively affecting consoles.

What are you talking about? Learn to use language properly.

1 Your graphics card is part of your computer, regardless of having added it.

2. If "your computer can run it," but "your graphics card is another story", then that implies that your graphics card cannot run the game. Your graphics card being part of your computer (ref. 1) means that your computer cannot run the game. So your whole comment is a fucking paradox of linguistic fucktardery.

3. Don't you have homework to do, or are you still in elementary school?

@artuiro That's such an excellent setup, I don't understand why you would go with the xbox version still. The game might have some DX10 features, so your 295 might be able take advantage of that. But I beg you to plug that thing into your HDTV, plug a USB 360 pad and let it auto install the drivers, and run your games in 1080p with everything turned up.I know your monitor is higher resolution than that, but your monitor isn't 50-60'. Try not to be impressed. I recommend RF: Guerrilla for pass around couch gaming.

Get yourself some Steam friends, and help your real friends get into the gloriously expensive and time wasting fun of PC building.

Quite reasonable, actually. Surprising given how good the screenshots look so far.

I'm a little pissed that my brand new GTS 250 can't do DX11, i know the card is a little old, but its still really beefy!

Well, the good news is that DX11 cards can be had for cheap.

I don't really see why you'd be annoyed. Cards designed to support DX11 only came out a few months ago with the ATI 5xxx-series... Not too many people have those cards, and frankly the GTS250 is based on a two generation only architecture.

Please, for the love of god, tell me that image is photoshopped. I can't even begin to name the amount of anatomical errors with that mans' head.

I meet the recommended but I do need to upgrade my graphics card... AGAIN.. my 8800 isn't cutting it anymore I guess.

I think you got the processors for Minimum/Recommended requirements mixed up. There is no way a minimum recommendation is 3.2GHz

A 3.2ghz Pentium 4 is quite a bit slower than most of the Core 2 Duos with lower clock rates. These are really old CPUs, from 2006 iirc, before Intel decided Netburst was the wrong idea and went with Conroe.
