Without knowing the inner politics and discussions that went on, it's impossible to say if this was necessary or justified. However, the fact that there was no notice of this a month or so beforehand hints at a hasty decision.

Lucas needs to get to Tallarico again.

Tallarico was a gigantic horribly biased asshole, yet that ended up bringing a hilarious polarity to Lucas. They complimented each other and made each others' opinions stand out more.

Anyone care to explain why it was called "Crispy Gamer", since many you obviously seem to disagree with me?

Why is this website called Joystiq? You're reading this website on a computer! Oh and why is it spelled with a Q? Why didn't they use spellcheck?

But "Joystiq" is a play on the word "joystick", which obviously has something to do with gaming. What does "crispy" have to do with gaming?

I honestly don't understand why I got down voted here.

Their logo makes my OCD trigger into some type of "I can't figure what the hell their logo is" mode. I am consumed, and why is it crispy gamer? I am a prisoner in my own mind.

Yeah, what the hell is that anyways?

A pelvis? A bear nose? An arrowhead? Two cars about to collide on a poorly thought out street corner? The sun from Mario 3 wearing a bandit mask?

Can't speak as to the rest of them, but Scott Jones deserved this. Dude's reviews were half-assed at best, but were insanely uninformed and based on nothing. Look at his Borderlands review -- it reads like he played for an hour and wrote it.

I agree. The few times I stumbled across the site the layout annoyed me and the reviews seemed more on par with what a friend might tell me instead of an actual review.

Well, at times it seems like corporations don't ever decide to do anything but fire people and make a general mess of things.

Ultimately, the board that made the firings are still going to be waking up tomorrow and going to their high paying jobs.

This site seemed too "high brow" to succeed, I thought. Not enough flamebait/tabloid-like articles like the stuff you find on Joystiq :-P

I've never heard of this site, but I seriously feel for all the guys who got pink slips.

Seems like the gaming media is just a never ending cycle of guys getting tossed out of their desks. The painful reality of living what for many blog commentators might well be "the dream."

The comic artists are also laid off apparently. Experience Points was the only part of Crispy Gamer I knew about really, but it was a good comic.

So this is the EGM/1up.com firing of 2010. You know it really does suck, but a lot of good things rose up form the ashes of that. Rebel FM, A Life Well Wasted, and Geekbox are 3 great podcasts that wouldn't exist if it wasn't for that. Not to mention that a lot of people went on and found better jobs anyway.

The crispy gamer ex-writers will be fine, and they will go on and do great things. but it still sucks. Getting laid off from the blindside and being unemployed is stressful.

These suits meeting in boardrooms with their bullshit corporate layoffs can try as they might, but they won't dissolve the gaming community.

Crispy Gamer was a great website not just because of the comics and fine writing talent of the Game Trust. But because the writers would talk with and seem like they were hanging out with you on the forums and comments. People didn't go back just for the reviews and amazing editorials but because they felt like they were part of the site. Its a shame that CG is going to become an ad network now.
