DJ Max Rocks!
If you like music rhythm games you shouldn't miss it. Its hard, but rewarding :D
And 10x better than the mess that was Rock Band Unplugged...

They should release a PSN version of this game... They already got like 5 iterations of it on the PSP.
Just Imagine playing a 10 or 12 button mode on the Dualshock o_O

Don't even compare DJ MAX with things such as DJ/Guitar Hero.

This is easily my most played game on my PSP to date. If you really want to enjoy the series, import all of the Korean versions. English language option FTW.

It's more like a Beatmania clone that's more forgiving and has typically better music. Plus better backgrounds and a real sense of progress. Plus it's badass and as a guy who owns every version of DJ Max... you should buy this.

I love every iteration of this franchise but I must say, the Fever exclusive Green Notes do get annoying sometimes....

I've heard DJ Max Fever is very difficult as far as rhythm games go. The only rhythm game I have any extensive experience with is Hatsune Miku: Project Diva. How does Diva rank in the difficulty spectrum of rhythm games? Like, among Rock Band Unplugged, DJ Max, Hannah Montana (...), and whatever other ones there are on the PSP.

The hardest passage (the only one I can't beat so far) in the game is this:

Skip to 1:38 for the thumbkiller.

Project Diva is the easiest rhythm game I've played, so this is going to be a big jump.

To all people who think 5-starring Guitar Hero songs is an achievement: DJMAX WILL RAPE YOU.

Project DIVA is pretty easy in terms of overall difficulty when it comes to stock songs (a lot of custom charters, though, have made the game pretty damn hard).

The DJ Max series takes a while to get into no matter what iteration of the game you play (except for possibly the recent Clazziquai Edition, which is tailored toward newbies), but it's a pretty satisfying experience to climb that difficulty curve, which is, for the most part, pretty steep if you're new to the series.

Um, hard to find? Most Best Buys still have piles of it in stock, at least in my experience.

You could always play BM98 on your PC. Remember though, "BM98 doesn't stand for Beat Mania 98, it stands for Bee Bem Ku Hatchi."

Sweet I'm definitely buying this. I'll be playing it on my Go using a PS3 controller so I don't wear out the Go's buttons so quickly this time.

Great game to come out on the PSN! Perfect addition to your library if you are a PSP Go owner. Highly recommended.

The difficulty of this game can get intense. Be prepared to have hand cramping issues until you get used to it. This has to be my favorite game in it's genre.

@John Z: Totally. This game came out almost exactly a year ago in NA, and there are $19.99 new copies at EB/GameStop even today. It's the *other* DJ Max Portable games that never came out outside of South Korea/Asia.

Even though I own all the DJ Max games (including DJ Max Trilogy (PC) and the UMD version of DJ Max Fever, I'm still buying the PSN version today. I want to support PM Studios, the series, and most of all have a version that will supposedly fix a few of the glitches of the original UMD release. It was rumored that the PSN version would also offer extra content, but I haven't seen a hard confirmation of that yet.

If this is your first foray into the series folks, I say get this one. DJ Max Clazziquai Edition is the easiest in the entire series overall (until you install the official patch which adds more difficult patterns and Season 2 mode), but Fever is still a great starting point (it's the first one I played, too). It has most of the best songs from DJ Max Portable 1 & 2 and is tremendously fun.

@motorcitydice: It can definitely be intense! But a good intense after you're used to it for sure.

I recommend new players start with 4B (4-button) mode on 1x speed with level 1-4 songs. From there, boost the scroll speed to 1.5x - 2.0x and try harder level songs. Scroll speed is actually a player's friend since it helps to spread out the notes as they drop. Later, more complicated note charts get jammed on the screen with anything less than 2.0x speed, which is what leads to confusion. I generally stick with 2.5x-3.0 speed now that I'm more experienced.

Other tips include swiping buttons (sliding your thumb from one key to another) during very close, stairstep note sections, holding your PSP lightly, and practicing, practicing, practicing. It's all worth it in the end!
