New Uncharted 2 DLC, retail twin pack for Japan

A very elegant Uncharted box set will be released in Japan on February 18 for ¥7,980 (about $87). The Uncharted Twin Pack contains both Uncharted 2 and the "PlayStation 3 the Best" Edition of Uncharted, in a lovely gold box that, thankfully, hides Japan's Uncharted 2 box from view. Along with this announcement comes the reveal of a demo bound for the Japanese PlayStation Store on January 28, plus a bunch of exciting DLC, which we can assume will arrive outside of Japan at some point.

The first content pack will be free and in the Store on January 28 -- and it's kinda weird. It contains multiplayer character models of Resistance 2's Nathan Hale and a Chimera, InFamous' Cole (in both "good" and "evil" forms) and Zeke, and Killzone 2's Tomas Sevchenko and a Helghast soldier. The second DLC pack, dated February 25, adds two maps, one of which is based on the first Uncharted's "Ruins" area, and multiplayer models of the first game's Nate, Elena, Atoq Navarro, Eddy Raja, Roman Gabriel, and a mercenary. This pack won't be free, but no price has been specified. The third DLC pack, available April 15 and also premium, adds a new co-op multiplayer mode, along with four new maps and five new character skins.

And what is wrong with the Japanese cover art for Uncharted 2? I think it looks cool. Kind of like a retro 80's movie poster. I keep expecting to spot Charles Bronson somewhere in it's background.

It'd be Oddjob from GoldenEye all over again.

At least it's easier to aim down at the ground nowadays. It took a while to get it perfectly lined up on the N64 controls.

Because they know he's so awesome that they have to charge for him. Perhaps he's coming as one of the "premium" character skins/models.

He'd have to have a special "Goddamn" taunt all his own.

Pretty much plugging every successful PlayStation IP into a very successful game with hopes you will buy the original game. Maybe a smart move Sony, but my one question is....... where is Kratos!?!

The God of War is just too bad ass for this type of tomfoolery. He'd take one look at Nate, walk over to him through a hail of gunfire just to impale him on his chaos blades, curse the gods and walk off.

Such a bad ass!

Yeah I could never imagine Kratos wielding a gun, it would just be wrong.

I'd love to get some additional campaign episodes or something for this via DLC. Maybe they could star Sully or Chloe on some kind of side mission.

Sounds cool, although I'm a little sad that there is no sackboy costume. The thought of him running around killing people and then humping there dead body with the pump taunt is too awesome for words.

Well I'll be damn.....can't wait to hear more about this coming to the US and other areas....hell I still want that Motion Comic bundle that EU has to be released here in the US.....

but uhhhh How is Cole going to use guns? don't they just explode in his hands?

Imagine if they make it look like every weapon he uses is lighting shooting from his hands lol

u2 sells the most in america, yet we keep getting screwed on the dlc. what the hell.

You know, at first I thought it was weird that we'd be seeing characters from other video games in Uncharted 2. But then I also think it's weird that we see four different Nathan's and four different Chloe's in competitive.

Of course, now everyone will probably be the Helghast soldier.

I would so be a Helghast soldier. Can't wait.

This news strikes me as odd... I did not think that Resistance sold too well in Japan so adding Hale to Uncharted DLC doest strike me as a great idea... Hmmm I guess more can be better so if/when this comes to North America I'll check it out...

a few of those photos look like bad photoshop editing,,,the one with cole and the RPG and the Chimera one especially...made me check the calendar to see if it was April fool's day...anyway, this better not cost more than $5

At first I thought this was a joke too, because at Kotaku they didn't mention anything about those DLC, only the 2 games being pack together, so when I started reading those DLC options I thought it was bogus.

Nice to see Naughty Dog, Insomniac, and Sucker Punch keeping the tradition of fun crossovers. I always liked the nods to each others' games during the Ratchet/Jak/Sly Cooper era.

"DLC for Uncharted 2." That's all I need to read.

I'm on board with anything they send at me for that game. Especially if they're not only doing character skins, but new maps and a new co-op mode. It doesn't seem like other developers add that variety of new content all that often (i.e. they just give new maps, or just new characters, etc.). Getting a completely new mode, etc. puts Naughty Dog up there with Criterion, in my opinion.

And if they follow Criterion in quantity and quality of DLC, I'm behind them all the way.

Yeah pretty much. Lol.

Naughty Dog is legit. Can't even begin to describe the excitement.

Nothing bad about this. Wouldn't mind it if I could unlock these skins for the single player campaign too.

Love to be able to download the audio track for more languages. Probably the only person in the world who would do that though :)

...any chance I can *just* buy the co-op content and not the other stuff for a lower price? I don't have any interest in playing versus multiplayer in Uncharted. I'd just like some new co-op content. That'd be great, thanks.

wow, those screens look like the characters were photoshopped in. oh well, sounds awesome (the free part doesn't hurt either)...

Interesting that they would put those other characters from those games in there. It will be cool if you can use them in co-op, even though its unlikely.
