So in other words it's giving the 360 a Reach-around?

Sorry, I had to say it.

I don't really care about the graphics. It just creates more "Not as good as Gears 3" d****ebags.

Halo was made fun with it's many features and incredible replay value. It had Matchmaking: A Massive Multiplayer game with many fun gametypes, including CTF, Assault and good ol' Slayer. The maps were fun, but were improved with the next feature:

Forge: A level editor (not as vast as the Far Cry editor, but that wouldn't work well in Halo in my opinion) which was fun to do. You could make 1000+ different map variants from only one map, simply by adding scenery to make different objects, buildings and even traps. Bungie also added some maps into Bungie Favorites and even Bungie Day 09, which I played with my mate for 21 hours trying to get something which wasn't worth anything, but was too addicting to stop attempting to recieve it: Recon. The armor that you could only get on Bungie Day or by completing the Vidmaster Achievements: Seven Achievements spread over Halo 3 and ODST which were time consuming, but entertaining nonetheless. Another feature of Halo 3 was the Custom Games:

Pretty much the same as Matchmaking, but featuring Forge-created map variants and the famous Infection gametype, which could be modified to your liking. Even games such as Halo (a ring shaped racetrack on Sandbox where the non-infected drove Mongeese (not sure what the plural is for the vehicle) to the end to kill the infected in the middle with the infected preventing them with a sniper and a rocket launcher. Both the infected and non-infected had to use skill (which many think Halo doesn't have) to win the game, and it was fun for all. Especially when something crazy happened, which you wish you could watch again and again. Fortunately, you could:

Theatre: Yet another feature that was extremely convenient. You splattered an opponent with a cone? Take a screenshot! You glitched the game and made your dead body kill someone? Record a video! Pop it on your fileshare for the world to see! Easy, fun and very handy.

If you think Halo was a crappy game, don't look at the graphics, look at how long the game lasted, and the differences between Halo 2 and 3.

All this and more will be in Halo: Reach, including what you guys want: Better graphics.

Games are made for fun, not for realism. Take Pac-Man for example. Pac-Man has lasted for over a decade, and the graphics weren't exactly Uncharted 2.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars had environments 1 sq. kilometer large. Will Halo: Reach be able to match that in more levels than Quake Wars had?

I thought Halo 3 was quite ugly for its time, but I saw the Halo Reach screenshots in the latest Game Informer magazine and was pretty impressed.

Even if the graphics aren't as good as say Gears 2, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Mass Effect 2 or Assassins Creed 2 (thats a lot os 2's!) it isn't like the graphics are going to be Wii quality shit or anything. They'll still look good and if what these guys are saying is true it'll blow Halo 3 out of the water. I never really liked Halo but I'm actually not a Halo hater ... I respect the franchise and what its been able to accomplish. I just don't really see why this story of all things started a big flame war.

You know, I'm still baffled with Bungie choosing a prequel. Why did Bungie decide to not continue the story after Halo 3?

That's one hell of a cliffhanger to just leave there.

I generally do not post here unless I am feeling lonely and desperate for the attention of morons and losers. Tonite is one of those nights, so here I post.

Bungie said the exact same things about 'pushing the 360 to it's limits' with Halo 3. This is just what devs say when they have nothing else to say. They are trying to imply they worked really hard and you should spend your $60 sight unseen for their project because 'they worked really, really hard on it.

For those who have memories long enough to remember ODST, Bungie lost their cred when it comes to asking people to trust them with an advance of $60.

operation flashpoint (not the crappy new one) and arma had 100 square kilometer islands you could explore. halo is a linear joke with a melodramatic cheesball story.

You're muddling style (realism) with graphics. Have you played pac man championship edition? it's a far superior experience to the original pac man, most of all because it looks sharp... geometry wars like smoothness and aesthetic. no one really cares about original pac man anymore but nostalgists like in that king of kong movie.

Halo 1 was an admirable attempt at realism, but the unfortunate problem the franchise obviously realized during the production of halo 2 is that it was almost impossible to enhance the game's realism much more on a 700 megahertz computer, and so halo 2 used a cartoon like style, lots of bump mapping, and other visual "tricks" to wow players. If you compare halo 2 and half-life 2 which release near each other, it's easy to see how far halo had fallen behind as a franchise. Halo 3 actually had the technology to have an edge as far as photo realism is concerned (we saw this in the e3 trailer), however bungie decided to "scale back reflections, lighting, etc. to meet halo 2's artistic style" (in other words: rushed the project to completion) and the result was halo 3's rather lack-luster graphics.

Why would they tell us this. It's stating "Now you will know for sure that the Xbox 360 is maxed out!" when we see the typical generic halo graphics as usual. Seriously, no Halo game has made that significant of a jump in graphics. This is rather saddening really.

Who Cares about Graphics, all I want is Excellent Game play, which most other games dont have now a days, im tired of buying a game, to only not revisit it later, unlike halo, or mass effect or some other ones that i contently revisit on a daily basis.

VG industry get your act together, I want Excellent Game play, not High-End Graphics
