Kamiya keen on returning to Bayonetta, considering spin-off
30
Speaking to Game Informer, Platinum Games' Hideki Kamiya discussed the possibility of a sequel to Bayonetta. Kamiya noted that the Bayonetta team has "love" for the game, saying, "I don't see anything wrong with Bayonetta 2." (If you're reading this, Mr. Kamiya, neither do we.) He elaborated that he'd like to approach a sequel "from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off." Game Informer goes on to speculate that a sequel could star Bayonetta's rival, Jeanne. Honestly, we don't care who stars in the sequel. As long as the action is just as solid as it is in the first game, it really doesn't matter. As long as someone is kicking ass in a stylish, intuitive way, we're sold.

That's cool that he wants to continue Bayonetta in some way. The game deserves some kind of continuation.
But Kamiya has not really done any kind of sequel. He directed Devil May Cry 1, but didn't touch 2, 3, or 4. He directed Resident Evil 2 and hasn't touched the franchise since then. He did the first Viewtiful Joe, but he wasn't involved with the sequels. He even wanted to return to Okami, but he abandoned it after hearing about Okamiden on the DS.
It will be a long time before we see anything Bayonetta related in the future.

I just want Devil May Cry 5, as long as there is no backtracking like on 4.

Interesting- Deathnote name but Samurai Champloo pic? Like them both! ^_^
On topic- I wasn't really impressed with the direction from 3->4 either. Give me more Dante, less back tracking, more weapons (like bayonetta), and let me feel *powerful* like the old DMCs.

I hope the makers of Devil May Cry 5 take note of Bayonetta's reception and take a few notes. 4 wasn't bad but it didn't have the same over the top kickass feel as dmc 3 and like Bayonetta had. The hallmark of a great game is when you can decribe one aspect of it (Nevan/ Bayonetta's gun-shoes) and watch someone's mind practically shut down from the sheer awesome.

Maybe they should focus on fixing the PS3 version first

I completely agree.
I really was disappointed with the PS3 port.
They could of have atleast enable optional HDD install for less loading times.
But they didn't. I think they're just lazy.
I don't wanna be an a**hole, but in my personal opinion,
if they can't release a decent PS3 version, then keep it a 360 exclusive.
Cause it won't do any good to the PS3.
The PS3 has nothing to worry cause it has many other hi-quality games.
But if Sega or Platinum games manages to fix the PS3 version, I would appreciate it and look forward to the PS3 version of Bayonetta 2.

See, this is where I disagree. In comparison to the 360 port, perhaps it was inferior. But I don't think that if they can't 'fix' the PS3 port, it should be kept as an exclusive. Because I didn't find anything wrong with the PS3 version of Bayonetta. As far as I was concerned, they were the exact same game, gameplay-wise. So the colors were apparently duller? So there was a frame rate issue? (I honestly can't remember...was there a frame-rate issue?).
The point of that is: I don't have a 360 anymore. So as far as I was concerned, I wasn't missing anything. If people have both systems and want to complain about it being better on one system than the other, then by all means: get it on the better system. But I played through Bayonetta, I beat it, I had a good time and not once did I lament missing out on redder reds, golder golds and faster frames (?).
I understand that my lack of giving a shit about a superiority/inferiority could in the long run be contributing to the cripple of the multi-platform game since it in a way encourages developers to not put more effort into a port they know people are going to buy anyway. But I'd rather have an 'inferior' version of a game than not have it at all, especially in the case that these missed 'superiorities' (not a word, I'm making it one) are so menial in that they don't really affect gameplay, and in all likelihood would go ignored or unnoticed. So toss me Bayonetta 2. And while it would be nice if my whites were whiter and my brights brighter...It's not going to be a deal-breaker as long as the game itself doesn't blow.

A game featuring Jeanne would be the most obvious choice.

Well if they make a good port I might buy it and update Bayonetta then I might buy it.

Co-op?! I think there is already enough going on with one protagonist- co-op would just be ridiculous... and how would you manage torture attacks and the like? INCONCEIVABLE!

Platinum Games wasn't the one to badly port it to the PS3.
Don't try to give them a bad name.
It was SEGA that ported it over.
