Interesting, yes.

Unneeded confusion, yes. But I guess its easier to distinguish who gets what.

What Id know to know is, are members of the 'Cerebrus Network' going to have early access for DLCs? I guess they're well within their right if they wanted to.

It almost seems as if the dlc offered through the Cerberus will be different from the ones you pay for separately. Maybe like weapon packs or upgrades but nothing huge like expansions.

Strategically i don't see it making much sense to offer an entire new scenario for free when it's being sold at $15 without the network. I might be wrong though, bioware might just be very generous.

If this is the case, i'll drop a $15 investment on that. So long as i'm guaranteed everything that's offered thereafter. Otherwise standalone dlc ftw.

So if my roommate and I plan on sharing the game on different 360s, will I have to purchase the Cerberus network?

Yup. If you want Cerberus for free.ninety-nine I suggest you get to ME2 before your roommate does. Otherwise, suck it up and pay for it if you really want it. Or don't, whatever.

I agree with Ryan, this all seems unnecessarily confusing. Bioware games are big enough that I usually don't bother with the DLC anyway though.

Free stuff is released on the Cerberus Network and for-pay stuff comes out on Xbox Live. What's confusing about that?

DLC is more or less crap unless it gives you at least 4 hours of gameplay.

good.

it seems a pretty fair way for good developers to make money off of their good games whether it is bought new or used.

Sounds like there is nothing to worry about if you buy the game new. There strategy is to make buying used copies less appealing. Can't say I blame them. If you won't buy at $60 then wait for the price to drop later this year. Problem solved.

Yes, it will. That's all handled through the Bioware site. The armor will work regardless of what version you bought.

My issue with this is that you just know EB Games and Gamestop are not going to cut the price of their used games by $15. They'll be just $5~ less instead, and players will end up paying more for the game.

Well, then people will either feel silly for not doing more research beforehand, or realize that second hand games aren't always the best way to go.

Or option 3, maintain their ignorance and fall for the second hand scam again. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Phew! I was worried there for a bit that I was going to get all my DLC for free! Thanks for reassuring us that you're going to want more money out of us, EA!

I really excited about all of this and I think that this makes a perfect strategy (in order to sell more new copies of the game).

On an unrelated note (and just to bash GameStop) I will not be preordering from them because I did not preorder soon enough and I would not be able to get the collector's edition. "Hi Best Buy, you can have my money, GameStop did not want it." I am a little peeved that I will not have the cooler armor and gun though.

Same thing for me, but I pre ordered it there anyway and pre ordered the colectors at best buy. When it came out, I traded in some games at gamestop, bought it, went to best buy, made up a story about it being a gift, losing the receipt and wanting to switch. It actually worked. So now I have the collectors edition and both pre order armors.

This will be one of the best RPGs ever. My only complaint is that damn bright light glare in the pic. It's really over done. J.J. Abrams even copied it for the Star Trek movie. Watching Star Trek again recently I realized how many scenes are obscured because of this. The original ME had a lot of this. It just makes it harder to see things for no absolute reason.

WANT NOW! Preordered off Play.com last night, better be here by tomorrow. I'm confused about the DLC. Will the Normandy Crash Site be availible to perople who buy the game post-release day. Some blogs seem to think so. Help

The DLC through Cerberus really are'nt worth the money. It's the Terminus Gear, and a random mission where you visit the Normandy crash site. BTW the Terminus armor sucks. You can't take the helmet off on the dang thing. So you can't see Shepard's face during cut scenes.
