A cat head-sized helmet which are awesome for roughly 23 minutes, then an eyesore shortly thereafter?

HOW DARE YOU! That helmet is awesome! Much better than some silly NVG holder.

Griffin, I'd assume that these bonuses are available through normal play...Just like the console Limited Editions.

Yeah I don't know if Joystiq is getting lax or what; but as you said, the console "LE" versions have been available to preorder for months at various outlets, and it's been clearly stated that all of the in-game bonuses are available to unlock through regular play. This just gives them to you right away.

Isn't a digitally distributed limited edition game an oxymoron?

The bonus items are only for pre-orders, after release there will be no extras thus making the it limited. Same for the PS3 and 360 Limited Editions that will eventually be replaced with a Standard Edition without the incentives.

doesn't that make nearly every game a "limited edition"?

these are all for multiplayer only actually. most of them (like armor and the dart gun) you get really early on (in the beta atleast) the only one that you really have to work for is the secondary fire for vehicles.

I'd much rather have a digital camo, BF2 branded, NERF assault rifle than an "early access" code collectible.

The contents of the LE are early access type stuff. Early purchases are thanked by having day 1 access to increased vehicle armor, alternate fire on select vehicles, early radar detection while in vehicles, Tracer Dart pistol, and M1911 Pistol and the M1A1 submachine gun from BF1943. The LE's aren't going to be around too much past launch day.

i suppose watching a bunch of blinded, top-heavy cats attempt to fight each other would be a greatly amusing way to end interplanetary disputes. i still think conflicts should be decided by a game of Stratego instead of war but that is just me.

Honestly, I really dislike all this "in-game items tied to pre-orders" business.

It's always a kick in the ass coming to a game after the fact for a myriad of reasons and finding out I only get part of the game because I wasn't at the developer's beckon call prior to it even being out. Sometimes I don't even know if the game is good yet, until it is out.

Essentially the only way to have a complete game is to not only have the money at the time the developer decides to release the game, but have even more to drop on some ridiculous "Special Edition" that I could care less about, and then on top of that have to buy it and hope for the best it isn't a piece of shit.

All that just to play a game I have some interest in.

Bioware is rather bad about this, but I think the worst offender yet was Assassin's Creed 2 which required you to:

Pre-Order the game at the specific store (GameStop), have it be the Master's Super Duper Edition, and have it be the PS3 version, have a PSP with AC: Bloodlines, then play through the game and use the UPlay service in order to have a complete game.

The thing I hate the most about the bonuses you get for pre-ordering is the Advanced Arms Package. Everything else doesn't give you much of a Day One advantage, but being able to enter a tank and getting the ability to take down tanks AND anti-air (most tanks don't have AA as default) is, I think, too powerful to be given away on Day One.

The only thing that will balance this out is the vehicle radar, useful for detecting Assault/Recon classes that want to C4 your tank, forcing the driver to pick and choose between versatility or detection (the advanced armor is pretty useless).

@kojo87 - Don't throw out your specs to be a jackass when they really aren't much better...

That's like having someone saying, "Can't wait to use my 3 inches!!"... and then you respond with "Psh whatever dude, I can't wait to use my 4 1/2 inches!!!"

And just for the record, I can't wait to play this game in its DX11 glory with my ATI 5870 and i5 quad core!

The sound was amazing but the graphics were terrible. The color was so washed out and guns look like toys. Now i expected that but i read a list of improvements being made for the game and graphics were key. I now want this game. I just hope that not all the maps are 5 miles long.

I failed to mention that my monitor is a 61" 1080p DLP, and I have a 5.1 speaker system, Ill be enjoying BC2 from my couch with my wireless mouse, keyboard, and headset. let me know how being hunched over a 26" monitor works out for you. Oh and did I mention I have 8gb of DDR3?
