Alright, alright, not really -- they're just screenshots, folks! But these four new screens do most assuredly feature Red Dead Redemption's main hero (and his buddy Marshall Johnson) sneaking up on a variety of old West bad guys to, presumably, take them out -- the folks at Rockstar claim that these shots are about "taking cover," but we can see with our own eyes that they're clearly about clandestinely poppin' fools.
We've still got a few more months before the game's scheduled release date of April 27, and as such, we'd be willing to bet this isn't the last we've seen of Mr. Marston and his U.S. Marshall buddies.

I know, its such a shame that the game isn't set in the year 2100 and the characters aren't wearing ridiculous looking body armor that makes them look like the stupid robot football player on fox's NFL broadcasts and isn't a first person shooter...

Are you a douche? He isn't required to like the setting. It was an honest, untrolling opinion.
Personally, I'd rather have five futuristic shooters than another damn WWII game, but that's just me.
And since I assume you're making a dig at Halo, get your facts straight. Halo takes place from 2552-2553 (excluding Halo Wars).

He may have came off a bit of a douche...but he has a point...I'm getting sick and tired of games being set in the exact same...how do I put this...not only timeperiod...but the exact same style! I mean...I've had enough Halo clones and future-themed RTS's/Action games...aside from Mass Effect 2/Lost Planet 2...(two games which do the future style in a very unique and interesting matter) ...I could go without a "future" themed game for the year. Modern...and past settings...(aside from WWII) are fine for me. I'm sure there will be some great futuristic games out there...but I'd love for developers to spend time on the past as well.

Tombstone is a good movie but don't bother with Young Guns. If you don't like Pale Rider/High Plains Drifter/Fistful of Dollars/Unforgiven, you simply have no taste in anything whatsoever.
Honestly I didn't like westerns until I saw Eastwood ones and now I really like them, if they're good. Deadwood is the greatest TV show ever made.
The old black-and-white ones where guys clutch their chest and fall off of balconies, though, I can do without.
What I'm saying is, Brian, you're a stupid close-minded babby.
Oh and it's hilarious how Bradworst took a joke about Generic Sci-Fi FPSs to be specifically about his Beloved Halo.

^ Not only that, but some of the beautiful shots in "Butch Cassidey and the Sundance Kid" helped me appreciate westerns much more, prior to that, I heart was like stone, such as Brian's.

I really wish more modern westerns would be made. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is one of the best westerns ever, and I enjoyed 3:10 to Yuma.
AoJJ has quite a few gorgeous shots much like Butch Cassidy, too. Really, the Wild West is a very interesting and stunning setting if it's used correctly.

You all claim to be Western fans, and yet didn't mention The Magnificent Seven.
You all fail. Badly.

Dude, chill out. I didn't realize that sarcasm could only be used to point out trolls as you believe--never said Brian was trolling. Just merely pointing out that first person shooters (Sci-fi ones in particular) are probably the most dominant game genre ever and that it is somewhat refreshing to have a company really attempt doing a fantastic job for a different setting in a non-first person shooter.
And btw, I don't know how old you are, but there are more sci-fi FPS's than Halo--I was referring to them in general not one particular franchise in particular (more so Unreal series, Quake II-IV). I grew up with the Dooms and first two Quakes (never played Halo) so the sci-fi setting has been over-done in my opinion. Hell I think that Id isn't popular anymore because their art-direction style has been so recycled that no one wants to play any of their generic sci-fi FPS anymore. I'd gladly jump on a new Commander Keen...
I'm just feel sorry for you and the fact that 95% of Joystiq readers wish that it was possible for the internet to put a restraining order on you from commenting here.

@Brian
No need for the hate bro.
@Gutsman's
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is my fave of all time.
@Bradwart
Magnificent Seven is decent only because it has Yul Brynner, but I prefer the Seven Samurai as its the original storyline.

Young Guns was a half joke, just to point out there's really something for everyone in the Western genre. I prefer 7 Samurai as well, or Samurai movies in general to Westerns. But saying "I don't like western movies" is akin to saying something like "I don't like science/speculative fiction films," or "I don't like comedies." in that you obviously don't know about which you speak because it's coming from ignorance.

I have the uneasy feeling this will get clouded and unseen with all of the other big titles coming out early this year, which is unfortunate.

they weren't horrific, at least they were precise, but the problem was the stupid run/sprint mechanism. I hate having to mash a button in order to move any faster than a tortoise in leg bracings.
