"Huh?" you say, confused by the very prospect of the Mass Effect trilogy getting the film treatment. Don't worry buddy, we're right there with you. The BioWare space RPG may be getting said treatmentt, though, according to Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hundson in a recent interview with MTV. "Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect," Hudson said.
Thankfully, Hudson followed up his statement with a conditional position for the possibility of a Mass Effect film. "The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made ... we want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all." We have but one humble request should a movie ever be made of the series: it goes fully 3D -- if only for text trees in the third dimension.

I'm glad they only want it to be a good movie. As for 3D...I'd rather have a good movie than fancy 3D effects.
Maybe I just don't like 14 dollars a ticket either...

If you had bothered to look this up on IMDB you would have found out that Avi Arad (producer of Spiderman, Ex-Marvel guy) has already bought the rights. The movie is scheduled for release in 2012. Check http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1482455/

Well IMDB has also been wrong a lot. Well, at least I know that there have been tons of things on there that weren't confirmed by anyone yet.
It's a great site once something is officially in the works, but until such a time I treat it as a possible source, not a definite source.

I say, if they're going to do it they have a great universe to play in, but maybe it can follow up the trilogy (however the story will go) with a new character. People already have so many preconceived ideas (not to mention which gender to be) of who Sheppard is.
Otherwise, we don't have enough good futuristic sci-fi movies out there. I say bring it.

Yes, a Mass Effect movie should be outside the scope of Shepard, just like Episodes I-III should have been outside the scope of IV-VI, and the new Star Trek movie should have been outside the scope of any of the series.
In other words, it's the best idea, but will not happen.

It would work, but it should be a side story, Shepard story is meant to be played, molded for you, by you, from your choices. You aren't "playing as" Shepard, you ARE Shepard.
I honestly think Mass Effect has a rich enough universe to become the gaming equivalent of the Star Wars lore, but hopefully it will be treated with little more dignity by it's creators.

A sidestory sounds best to me. Might I recommend the First Contact War? Nice epic skirmish between human military and the turians. It's a nice quick war that could lead to different stuff for future movies(like the events of ME1).

I like where this thread is going. Good ideas. I agree. Before or after. Not alongside Shepard or playing as him/her.

Why a movie? Why can't they make it a mini series or something. The problem with a movie is the duration. You can only make a movie so long, and there is only so much you can cram in. Why not mini series?

because a mini-series won't take in millions of dollars at the box office.

Imagine a mass effect movie where the audience chooses sheperds actions throught the movie...

Can we get the guy who plays Jack Shepard on LOST to play Shepard? I always thought he even looked similar to the default male Shepard.

I think they should be very careful with what they do with this property, as cool as a mini-series or movies would be it could also do a lot of harm. Though I do like the mass effect universe more then Starwars of which it borrows from.

COD
WOW
Bioshock
movie before they will get around to a Mass Effect.

Why do people want a movie about EVERY DAMN video that comes out now days? Have they seen how bad video game movies do? "Oh I want a WOW movie, MW2, DA, ME, MGS...". Those games are already movie like, do you want them to have cliche dialog and crap acting? Then if the movie turns out to be a "Street Fighter" type fiasco, then they cry. Bah. They should just stop with the whole thing. Video games are fine the way they are, they don't need movies to mess them up.

Ahh, music to my ears. say that again tmac, universally loved? IM glad you know and admit it. More universally loved than most / any exclusive this generation. Only on the PS3. Your basically saying how PS3 sucked but now it doesnt. Thats all our points, its surpassed the 360, were now in the present not the past.
"hard on you sony fanboys" just lol. With every sentence you type it just shows more of how desperate and attention seeking you are. You know PS3 is on the right track and has the best exclusives and your insecurity is intense!!! :D no amount of words will change that vibe you give off.
