I see I wasn't the only one who thought so. One wonders, though, if there might be some other seiyuu out there making a living as a Wakamoto soundalike. You know, there are Elvis and Michael Jackson impersonators; Bruce Lee had Bruce Li. Wakamoto is fairly distinctive, so maybe someone chooses to be a cheaper version of him.
The graphics are outdated. The music, gets the job done and little more. The gameplay, although it seems to have a few improvements, is still the same old formula.
And yet, I giggle like a schoolgirl.
NipponIchi Software: proving that graphics don't mean crap if your script if comedy gold, since 1994. $Deity bless them.
Why is this man downvoted? He's not trolling. He's speaking truth. I'm as big of NIS fans as they come, but I can admit that NIS games look like they belong in the PS1 era. There is nothing extraordinary about their presentation other than big numbers popping up on screen (and, oddly, recently great voice acting if Disgaea 3 is any indication. Big turn around there).
But the company never tries to make games other than what their fans enjoy: games that are crazy and off the wall. And while I love love love the gameplay in their games, the formulas between games aren't exactly "unique". Makai Kingdom is like 80% Phantom Brave, 20% Disgaea. The original Disgaea is half La Pucelle and half Final Fantasy Tactics. Prinny is half Disgaea, half Ghosts N' Goblins. (Hooray % pulled out of ass!).
But they are still great games. They offer gameplay that results in amazing replayability and depth that is just not seen anywhere else. They offer likable characters in lighthearted, hilarious stories. Everything else is serviceable and just a vehicle for the aspects of the game that really shine.
I have no idea why he or myself were downvoted. I said I'd want to get this on XBLA or PSN as I don't or ever plan on owning a PSP. It looks fun to me.
I also have no idea why the guy responding gets upvoted by saying "It's a PSP game". No one was questioning it's platform.
Cue the inevitable pile of Disgaea/Phantom Brave/Makai Kingdom cameos in 3... 2... 1...
(Speaking of which, with all the characters they've been cramming into their recent games, Nippon Ichi ought to just randomly call some game Makai Wars and get that one out of the way...
it looks like you might be able to actually change the TYPE of JRPG you're playing on the fly.. or at least you're going to be playing in many different gameplay systems. O.o
More then just a Prinny cameo, we get a whole load of tsunderes with the game including Taiga from Toradora, Shana from Shakugan no Shana, and Dokoro from Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan.
There are others as well but I can't remember what else NIS told me at Comiket 77, maybe I should of taken one of their handouts.
