We frequently see the words produced by gaming industry superanalyst Michael Pachter -- however, a new piece of programming on GameTrailers gives us the rare opportunity to hear them straight from the man himself. Yes, a new video segment titled "Pach-Attack" gives the technoprophet his own soapbox from which he can voice his opinions and say his sooths, all presented in crystal-clear HD video.
We've embedded the inaugural episode of Pach-Attack after the jump. If you happen to check it out, you'll need to keep reminding yourself that the casually-buttoned gentleman you're viewing isn't actually Don Johnson.

I've watched it 3 times already...
I just can't stop felling embarassed for him...
It's a guy, with what? 38+ years? 43+? Whatever... And he just has his own show because we hate him and can't stop bashing him on blogs, forums, whatever...
And he tries to act all cool with punchfrases like "We'll see next time in the Attack" or something like that... "Hello fellow babies"? c'mon... wtf is that?
I had some respect for the man... Bonus round? Fine... Interview? Fine... But his own freaking show? He's an analyst for godssake...
Well... gotta wait to see what comes in the next "Attack"...

3 times? You pretend to hate him but really you love him, this is evident. Also no one forces you to watch it, if you don't like then don't watch it.

The worst part is he made an ass of himself on the last Bonus Round by saying that the 360 has hardware that is more powerful than PC's, LOL.
Also, I'm still waiting on my Wii HD:

I watched this crapt. He blames the casual gamer and the music gamer for abandoning the market. That is a load of bull shit. Could it be that the music game producers saturated the market and people are sick of spending money. Or maybe casual gamers are you know, casual, and don't spend money the same way the hard core gamers spends money.
I hate this jack off.

well he is right... the casual gamer did "abandon" the market.
They saw the quality of shovelware, and really, after that, who ever wants to play games again.
and Music games, seriously, people get tired of paying 60 dollars for something that could just as easily be provided as DLC per track.

I think it's asinine to blame anything on casual gamers. They flooded the market with money during a rough economy, and to whine and suggest that they abandoned anything is foolish as if you recall they weren't really there in the 1st place prior to this generation. PACH ATTACK!!!!

His blaming of the casual gamer was right, they're are to blame for the industry not making as much money, last year they all bought shovelware, this year they don't feel the need to buy the same mini-games re-boxed as another $40 game.

Yeah, he's pretty much right, whether you like it or not.
Music gamers abandoned the market because Activision flooded the damn market with crummy Guitar Hero spin offs that people just got sick of paying for.
Casual gamers are giving up because publishers keep giving them crap offerings. Ask yourself how many shitty games with sub-par controls and graphics you're willing to buy and play and you'll understand how the folks who buy those games feel, too.
I don't think it's too late for casual gamers. A consistent stream high quality, well made (and marketed, obviously) offerings from publishers would go a long ways towards making those folks not lose interest in gaming.
Music games seem like they're probably screwed until someone comes up with a completely new formula, though.

The industry only recently acquired the casual market you're blaming this on. Imagine how the industry would be doing if it hadn't only recently managed to rope them in. Point the finger at yourself, fella. What's more likely is the core gamers who have been floating the industry all along are getting severely more dollar conscious.
"they don't feel the need to buy the same mini-games re-boxed as another $40 game." is such a brainless statement that it's impossible to take seriously.

Except the serious games are still selling by the bucket load. Look at ACII, MW2, Dragon Age, they've all sold very well. It's the casual market that's burned out.

There is this thing called a web browser, both the wii and ps3 have it..
It does this awesome thing where it allows you to browse web pages on the internet and even better than that you can view youtube on it and you can view general flash content..
It makes having "apps" added to the interface pointless because you can just browse to twitter or facebook etc on your tv.. So no there is no hate about that, its too little too late..

Oh yeah... cause browsing on the Wii and PS3 is just so freaking fantastic!
/sarcasm
I don't use the facebook, twitter, or last.fm on my Xbox 360, but I can instantly tell how much more usable they are than on the Wii or, especially, the PS3's crappy web browsers. Maybe if you plug a keyboard and mouse into the PS3 it will be alright, but no way in hell would I use it.

Pachters big thing about it is that he can view these things on the "tv" .. Especially last.fm, this is what grabs me as the strangest.
You would think having apps that are visual would be better suited to a tv right ?
I would rather look at facebook on my phone or on my laptop (you might have conversations going on that you dont want every one to see on the tv) I dont use twitter, so I cant comment on that.
The app that would make sense is youtube or flash support, because its visual you watch your tv, you dont really use it as a radio and you dont really use it to read text its called Television for a reason, there is this other thing called a radio, which can be plugged into an amplifier and into good speakers, rather than speakers from a tv. The amplifier can be really easily hooked up to a laptop and you can pump anything from your laptop, your own music collection / shoutcast / even last fm, the choice is yours, playing music from my console its more gimmick than anything else.. Can you play a game while listening to last.fm ?
Having friends round and getting them to watch a small laptop screen to watch a funny youtube clip sucks, being able to show them the clip on a big tv screen makes sense.. This is exactly why the browser kicks ass compared.. Watching tv episodes using a web based flash player also makes sense..
Listening to last.fm or looking at twitter / facebook on a television doesn't make any sense ...

I appreciate him owning up to his predictions that Borderlands was going to tank hard. Right before it came out, Pachter made a statement that releasing B-lands a couple weeks before MW2 was suicide.
There are 3 copies of Borderlands in my household and only one MW2...

Exception that makes the rule, everyone knows someone who lives to 90 and smokes 20 a day, it doesn't meant that cigarettes aren't bad for you. No one statement can be completely true for everyone.

Only way to play with 3 people in one house is to have 3 PS3s, 3 TVs and 3 copies of B-lands. =/
Splitscreen only works for 2 and won't connect to other systems on the LAN or online if you use it. Dunno if it's different for 360, but we only have one anyway.

For some reason, the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard "Pach-Attack" was that episode of Robot Chicken where Bill Clinton takes GW's parking space at McDonald's and says "Sorry, GW! Big Mac-Attack! YEEHAW!". God I'm weird.
