Without members or the original team, a remake would probably suck. Not like the original was anything revolutionary.

Much prefer a remake of Final Fantasy VI

Superior in every regard though the Playstation gen probably have never played the game or the gfx were not #D enough.

I personally don't want a VII remake at this point at all. Despite the games short length, i think remaking every location in 3d would be a hassle if we're talking about ps3, not to mention rewriting the dialogue to make sense with voice acting. If i'm not mistaken, the ff III and IV remakes were made by Matrix and "supervised" by a few members of the original teams. While III was awesome to finally play, IV ds is an absolute mess, though i may be overly critical, as ff IV is my favorite game of all time.

I do hope they port VI to DS or another system and add in more cut dialogue and all that, but if they touch the graphics i probably won't play it. There is a good reason Chrono Trigger didn't get a graphical upgrade, it would not benefit from it. Those games couldn't possibly have a better graphical style. The advance version is nice, but censoring the first scene with celes after allowing it on snes really irked me, and the music is ruined even with headphones or from game boy player.

I really don't understand what all the fuss about "FFVII". Last year I brought FFVII off the PSN and I sadly regret it, I only spent 30 mins before I got pissed off at the repetitive gameplay, *walk into room, random thing out of no where attacks you, walk into new room, etc.* Sure the game may of been good 10 years ago or maybe people were washed up with the 3D static Background? I just don't know.

Now we demand a remake? I rather they try fixing FFXIII before they attempt a remake and cash in the green.

I'm probably going to be downvoted for speaking the truth, but whatever, it Just shows you in denial.

Umm...random encounters have been a feature of nearly all Final Fantasy's, with the exception of what, XII?

You are an idiot. And a graphics whore.

C'mon, you have to agree random encounter out of no where/are annoying, while other games back in the day at least show there were enemies in the room, FFVII and lower rules are that there should be at least one enemy in every room even if you can't see them.

And no, alot of games on the N64 boosted better graphics than FFVII so i wasn't impressed with it at all. So don't call me an idiot "Mr. I have to post on every thread/post thingy on joystiq"

After playing crisis core, i felt it was completely disconnected from the original game.
with outdated visuals and lifeless models it makes me wish i could continue a crisis core quality version of final fantasy 7 with the level of charisma that was given to all the characters in that game and all.

with a retelling it gives the developers an opportunity to make a new game out of it if they wanted to.

granted id like to see some newer, more original content but so far the original stuff they have been putting out so far has been underwhelming.

Good Decision,I don't want no remake, I want a PS3 and a PSP port of the game, and not the PS1 version (which already exist), but a HD version of the game.

I know FFVII's a great game and all, I just don't understand why the number one thing people want most from Square-Enix is a remake of a game they've already played.

I never played FF7. I plan to @ some point in the next few months. In fact I missed out on the PS1 generation (mostly) entirely. After the SNES I really wanted an N64 but didn't have the money to buy it. I knew of the PS1's existence then of course, but for awhile thought it was strange that Sony was making a videogame system. Not that I thought it would flop, but that it was just strange.

I recently realized that the PS1 had quite a bit of RPG's. Granted not as many as the PS2 had/has.

Squeenix brought this all on themselves. They decided to do a tech demo of FF7 on the PS3 and got everyone excited - now they choose to hold off on making a game that would probably net them 10 million sales globally. On top of that, it's less work than making a full fledged new game. The systems are designed, the story is done - we're talking a graphics overhaul that they can make their best selling game EVER and they're choosing to sit on their hands.

Okay, so let's not make millions and millions of dollars on a remake of Final Fantasy VII, let's not listen to what the fans really want, and let's continue to release half ass mediocre unfinished games that sell like sh_t and get horrible reviews simply because we can and making horrible business choices is what a failing company is all about.

Last I checked their company NPD reports and such are on the decline in the last year or so. Guess they can't figure it out for the life of them huh?

I guess a new Super Mario RPG collaboration with Nintendo, a FFVI & FFVII remake, a new Chrono series game, or investing in a good Mana game for once is all out of the question huh? Hey, what do I know, I'm just a one of the many fans of the original squaresoft that made them who they are today voicing idea's of what the public actually wants.

I will just have to cross my fingers for that next new IP complete with glitches, bad voice acting, and horribly unoriginal ideas. Anyone else still crossing their fingers for this company to make a good game this generation because I have to hold mine together with duct tape to keep them together.

I always think FFVII is a little overrated. I don't even know anymore if this game is the best of the series.

Now, I guess they're not remaking VII because they still are selling a lot with the new games. Besides, right now they're making an MMO and possibly they already started with XV.

They'll leave VII for when they are doing bad. So, guys, stop buying their games xD

Then we're pretty much all screwed as seeing they launched it on PSN...and I remember it shooting to the number 1 download on PSN like the week it came out. Could be wrong though.

Of course that last fact should only motivate them to re-create it. If I was a shareholder of Square-Enix I'd be kinda pissed that they are not doing it.

Bizarre. If I didn't know any better, I'd say SE was opposed to milking the FF series for all they can.

But then I think about Advent Children, FFX-2 and FFXIII's cross-platform announcement.

That's a pity. Its like the ONE FF that truly needs, and is begging for, a remake... what with its jumbled mess of a plot, ancient graphics (truly the only ones to have not aged well in the entire series) and overall mediocre experience.

Its a great RPG and a groundbreaking title, but it just hasn't aged well... the other, superior PSX FFs have, and even the SNES ones, though. SE should really put some time into remaking this one, instead of re-re-releasing/making the SNES ones.

When Sony was having a hard time pushing PS3s, I'm kinda surprised they didn't make some sort of deal with Square-Enix to actually make a FFVII remake. Before the price cut, it'd definitely be a system seller.

I ended up just getting a bunch of gamestop gift cards and getting a PS3 anyways, but I'd be there on release day if they ever decided to make this.

"For the time being" to me means, "We still need to remake and sell V & VI on the DS first".
Not that I'm complaining, but it's obvious that it will eventually be re-released, I just think they'll continue to go in order to make as much as possible.

Maybe he means like howhe appeared in Final Fantasy Tactics.

I think a remake would be nice as long as they stick to it being a remake and not try to improve anything besides graphics and such. It's not needed but would be nice to see eventually.
