In what is likely an unearthed Dalek conspiracy, Chart-Track's UK sales chart reveals that Ubisoft's Just Dance is cuttin' a rug at the head of the retail Soul Train for a second week. In a small bit of redemption for those on the British isles, Modern Warfare 2 took back second place. Meanwhile, Wii Fit is biding its time in third, ready to gain its eighteenth wind and jump back up again when it's ready.
Most of the top ten is made up of familiar favorites, with the exception of Army of Two: The 40th Day, which is surely fist-bumping its hold of the fourth spot. Bayonetta and Darksiders, the first two of 2010's numerous high-profile Q1 releases, continue to put up a fight, slipping slightly to 11th and 14th places, respectively. Now could somebody please explain the magic of Just Dance?

Now we'll see if third parties have learned the proper lesson from this, that the Wii consumer values original experiences (at least original to them), and that new ideas like this are what make bank, or just see them flood the market with more motion camera knockoffs that don't sell well
That seems to be the thing. The Wii market is very fickle, not in that they won't buy software, but they won't buy the same software twice, usually (Wii Fit seems to be bucking that trend), but you see it in stuff like Shaun White's Snowboarding, the 08 version did very well, but the 09 version bombed hard. Tiger Woods 09 consistently outsells Tiger Woods 10 at this point still, and it explains the immense disparity between Boom Blox and Boom Blox Bash Party. Whereas PS360 gamers will go for the newer version of a game or edition of a franchise if available, Wii gamers just seem to stump for the older, and often much cheaper, option.

I don't think that the Wii Consumer values original experienes. I think that they value unoriginal experiences that allow them to do things without leaving their home.

Does this thing use just the remote? Seems like it would be impossible to judge what's going on with your body.

I'd never even heard of this before. Interesting that so many people here bought into it with a pretty shit tracklist and only the Wiimote for input.
I think Ubisoft has signed a deal with the devil or something, they seem to do bizarrely well on Nintendo.

Now, if this could be integrated into rock band, so my fake band can have fake backup dancers, that's a mega-win in my book.

Ah the UK, where taste in games is just facepalming worthy.
Sadly I have seen people play this game, funny enough they were all 11 year old girls or middle aged mums who have been drinking

Perhaps they're Lady GaGa fans, and they buy it just because of the name, to be disappointed by a bad game.
A shame, considering that they had to resort to using fat people embarrassing themselves in the commercials.

Over New Years a friend brought this game out while we were partying. 4 players. We had a BLAST playing this game. It really is a ton of fun with friends.

Yup! It's a fun game. It's not about high scores, or even how well it tracks your movements (hit or miss), it's about how incredibly stupid your friends look while playing this game. Needs more songs or DLC to be quite honest!

Gamers are elitists, I myself am guilty of this. When my sister brought this game around I thought "Ugh, way to throw 50 bucks in to the crapper". She could've bought Mario Galaxy or any other game but she didn't. See she's not jaded like the rest of us, she doesn't give 2 shts about the term hardcore gamer, or what some game reviewer says, she simply saw a game that looked fun to her and bought it. . . She popped it in and she had fun, then my brother had fun, then my other siblings, then our friends. Hey everyone was having fun, meanwhile, I'm being a sourpuss. Why do they like this stupid game I asked myself. It couldn't be that it was actually a fun game right? No buzz for it, no rave reviews from the critics, not Game of the Year quality, what gives? I eventually give it a shot, and hey what do you know? I had a blast.
