We always suspected we had nothing in common with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories developer Climax. We crave Coke, they prefer Pepsi. We swoon for Daniel Craig, they say George Lazenby is the best. We say tomato, they say ... well, that one works better when you say it out loud. Finally, though, we've found something we agree on: We both want them to make another Silent Hill game.
Speaking with the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine, lead designer Sam Barlow said, "For us we felt we've put our stamp on the series with Shattered Memories so we'd love the opportunity to do another one. So everybody go and buy it!"
He's absolutely right, you should do that this moment. ... Hey! That's more common ground already.

I think Silent Hill is tired..
Let it rest for awhile, please.

The only issue I have with "RE4 of the series" is the original Silent Hill was so unique and refreshing and still had so much to it.
Not to mention they've seemed to forgot all the creative possibilities of the series and instead continually rest on over-using the movie's/SH2's version of the creatures and inserting Pyramid Head everywhere.
The series just had a lot of unique qualities that were discarded without purpose.

Pyramid Head or any kind of Pyramid Head-like baddie isn't in SHattered Memories. There is a whole lot of SH2 feeling to it, though - which is a good thing since it is one of the best games ever. I don't see how any other game (or the movie for that matter) has done anything SH2 related aside from PH.
The original SH game blew my mind when it came out. It's great, but the plot isn't so great. Shattered Memories has a great plot. They already made a spiritual successor to the original SIlent HIll, it was called Silent Hill 3. Aside from a boring first half, it was pretty good, but lacked the amazing physiological horror of 2.

I do think it is very good that a new company taking an old property did something new with it, though.
Maybe I ought to just play the game sometime.
I just do kinda lament at what was loss, but I guess there's no other way. Keep making games, Climax, just don't retread.

If you love the game then leave it alone. PLEASE!!!...What the hell has Konami been doing all these years that they can't develope all their games internally anymore and out source everything they can.
Not counting MGS4, have they actually produced anything aside from Rumble Roses XX & Winning 11?

Daniel Craig sucks...
Haven't played Shattered Memories yet, but I guess Homecoming was kind of cool (I don't believe that's relevant to Climax but whatever)!

Homecoming was terrible. So many bad choices. What the hell were they thinking when they put in "LOADING: ACTION TIP!!! While in combat press to do a double combo! YEAH!" it's supposed to be a horror game, not an action game.
And everyone doesn't seem creepy in the game, they just seem mentally challenged, half acting as something might be wrong with the town, the other half thinks it's just a jolly old regular day at weezerville.
I also had so much trouble with the combat system. Every single boss freaking cleared my store of potions. Okay, maybe I just suck at the game, well, they should have an easy mode. I had no problem playing Silent Hill 2 on Medium with hard puzzles, why should this be so different?

I agree. SH:SM is a great game and I would love to see Climax be able to take it further.

The composer left the studio. Unless you can rope him in an continue this somewhat competent writing; your not gonna get far.

What, did the composer for the game also do the writing?

not quite. I meant they need the writing they currently have along with someone as good or better Akira whatshisface.

Akira Yamaoka worked on the music for most of the series, but was also in a Producing role for 3 and 4. Just as well (and not that this counts), he executive-produced Homecoming.
Team Silent's well was beginning to run a bit dry near the end, anyway. I hope they can bring Yamaoka's orchestration back for future projects, though.

I hope they finally finish their Landstalker remake for the PSP. It's been years since they've released any information on it.

I would LOVE to see this happen. Despite its flaws, Shattered Memories absolutely had its heart in the right place, and introduced so many exciting and innovative new ideas that are just begging to be fleshed out in a future game.
I really, sincerely hope they get the chance to do this. I will do anything in my power as a single, humble consumer to make it possible.

I hope they continue the series, they're definitely the best choice since team silent has disbanded. I've never been a SH fan but Shattered Memories was my game of the year for '09. Funny part is that was the last game I thought would get that title from me!

This is one of the few Wii games I actually craved to finish. Its's a very hypnotic game with a great story, although I didn't like the chase sequences. The psychological aspects were fun and a bit disturbing. It didn't feel like they were pandering to a younger demographic.

If anything, they were targeting an OLDER demographic, who were willing to play M-rated games that don't involve gore, nudity, constant swearing and non-stop in-your-face action.
