BioWare has posted a clarification for those having issues redeeming Mass Effect 2 promotional codes received in the Collector's Edition of the game or as pre-order bonuses from retailers. The codes require you to go to MassEffect.com to redeem, and although PC players just have to download a file in most cases, it's the Xbox 360 users that are stumbling into an issue.
Take note: If you have played a recent EA game with an online component (like Battlefield 1943) on your Xbox 360, chances are you already have an EA.com account linked to your Gamertag. If this is the case, do not create a new account on BioWare's or EA's site to redeem your code.
Xbox 360 owners that have played an EA game online and have their Gamertags tied to an account should not input their codes until they can log into their EA.com accounts. If you've already tied your Mass Effect 2 DLC code to a new account, the only way we know to get the game content is to transfer your new account over to an existing one, which requires getting in contact with EA.
We're currently contacting the publisher to see if EA can implement a streamlined process to transfer accounts and will update as soon as we hear back.
Update: We've placed EA's suggestions on fixing various Mass Effect 2 DLC issues after the break.
EA's response:
We are aware of the issue. Users having this problem can go to http://support.ea.com, choose "email us" on the left, and users should be able to get through. Here's a couple other sites to reference
FAQ: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/778857
As well, we have a lot of confirmations saying that if you changed accounts EA Online's account page can fix it. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/107/index/771409

If you still have a copy of ME1 you can check your career to see if you have a quicksave file close to or during the final boss fight. Complete it and it'll save the cleared game cache file to your HD that ME2 needs to detect completed ME1 saves.
But yeah... that's a convoluted mess that shouldn't have happened in the first place. I blame MS for making consoles with such a high failure rate along with BioWare for coding a character transfer process that relied on the original console to still be intact.
Yeah, they're probably trying to curb piracy or people trading game saves, but that's the case then it's just another way of punishing loyal customers to "hurt" pirates.

A lot of people who bought the PC collector's edition are finding their Cerberus Network code giving you access to the collector's edition armor when redeemed, instead of the Cerberus Network, then when you try to use the code in game it of course says *Code already redeemed*. So I got everything except for Zaeed and the other thing that unlocks.

F**k!
What a stupid convoluted way to do this. I just screwed myself out of the DLC.

They might be trying to curb piracy with stuff like this, but while I was discussing all this crap with my buddy, his response was dead on: "the funny thing is that once again Windows pirates get it all without the fuss"
He's dead on... And it's extremely frustrating.

Damn, I made an EA account back when dragon age came out, cuz I got the PC version and wanted the dragon armor for ME2. Little did I know my gamertag was already linked to a previous EA account from way back last year. Efffffff.

I'm a little more concerned about one of the most publicized features (ME1 character import) not working at all if you changed the storage device or console. I only have 1 new+ save, new console, new storage device... and I think I'm SOL.

the real question is why must your save files be on the same device they were originally saved on to import a char to mass2?? now i have to start fresh, as if i did play ME1 through 6 times... GREAT!

BTW, both the EA and Bioware social sites don't work real good if you're crazy enough to use Firefox or Safari. For whatever weird reason they seem to work fine with IE, but nothing else.
So... on top of a really poorly planned validation structure, they're kindof a hassle to use unless you're on MSFT's browser.
Blarg.

It wasn't really that complicated... People need to pay better attention about what they sign up for.

Well this is bioware so I am not that shocked. I ordered mine online and im currently waiting it (collector's Edition) on the snail mail that is USPS. Maybe it will be fixed then?....maybe not..Although my package is "somewhere" in the U.S., just hope it doesn't get "lost" like Assassin's Creed 2 did. =^/
On a safe note I "think" I should be fine all things aside if what they say works. I just think it sucks that this happens. You would think the xbox evaluations department would of flagged them for this, also kinda funny that EA mentioned awhile back on their "improved" QA. Granted this may be EA's fault completely or maybe just it's Bioware's or both.
and this should be interesting as the ME 1 import issue is new new's to me. I know a lot of people in my product testing job bought new HD's or the new MW 2 xbox and transferred them over. sadly they played and beat ME 1 back in 2007 and didn't think there be this issue.

I wonder how mine will work out.. because I have 2 accounts apparently. Once which Battlefield and apparently got inherited into Army of Two 40th. Army of Two 40th worked without a hitch. But I ALSO had to make a new one of their community site for Dragon Age 2 PC.

You can check your accounts at http://profile.ea.com to see which one has an Xbox persona, if you think you signed up for more than one EA account. When you find the right email address, use that one to claim the DLC codes. Simple.

I got ME2 pre-ordered but I had it shipped to my house and it came in a day after the original release date for pick up in stores, I've been hearing around that you can't download the armors anymore after the release day and when I put in my code to download the normandy crash site and Zaeed I did not see the armors on the list, unless its like a beat the game first thing (which I haven't yet) if someone could please tell me because i'm kinda upset about not having them. I also did not go onto EA.com to redeem my code there I redeemed it over xbl because I couldn't remember my password to my EA account, so ya if anyone could tell me what i'm doing wrong or verify that the armors are no longer available that'd be great.
