It seems there's a slight clog in Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network DLC pipeline. Though the promised bonus mission is still available, the deadly, rugged and elaborately scarred mercenary Zaeed has been held up until tomorrow or Thursday on the Xbox 360, according to a BioWare spokesman writing on the company's official forums.
You could spend time being sad about the delay or you could spend time playing Mass Effect 2. We think the choice should be pretty clear. Just pretend his space luggage got lost or something.
[Thanks, Theresa]

This is really sad news as I planned on using him in my party after watching his awesome trailer last night. I guess I'll have to wait for my 2nd playthrough this weekend :\

You're statement implies that you plan on finishing the game in the next 3-4 days, and then starting again on the weekend.

I will most definitely have this done by Friday night, if it takes me 30-35 hours like it has with most people. I'm probably going to put a good 12 in today alone :D

Yup, full time college and internship at the city's sheriff's office. I cleared my schedule for a few days to be ready for this game.

So they leaked it early and now it's delayed? What the heck is going on over there? It's like a Bioware XBL cocktease

I thought Normandy Crash was Zaeed, but apparently not.

They probably would have, but the 2 discs the game comes with are both 100% full of content. There's no room to add anything else. The extra mission is around 54mb and the Zaeed pack is over 400mb. There was no way they coul dhave had them on the disc to "unlock"

I have it preordered, but I did not pay for the extra shipping, so it's not set to ship until the 1st.

Haha Alexander was right in the podcast, DLC from Bioware almost always go wrong on day one. This could be a blessing in disguise.

All mass effect fans in the US, count yourself lucky. Europe isn't getting the game untill the 29th. So some DLC is delayed we can't even play the game. :(

This Cerberus Network is really the biggest load of bullshit ever. Basically, it's saying that unless you buy a new copy and get a redemption code in the box, it's gonna cost you $15 extra to get any of the free DLC. THAT is anti-consumer.
Ya know, it really sucks because I'm not one to put up with companies pulling this shit most of the time, and 99% of the time I'd just refuse to buy the game (much like I did with L4D2) but I'm torn because I really, really want to play this game. God dammit Bioware. Better yet, god dammit EA.

What was wrong with L4D2?
I realize it was a quick turnaround, but if they had released 5 new maps and a new multiplayer mode as DLC it would have cost as much as a new game itself anyway. And that's not even accounting for all the changes to the engine, the upgraded AI director, and of course all the new special infected (which really steal the show), characters, weapons, etc.

Buying it used is the same as not buying it at all as far as the developer is concerned. What point are you trying to prove by not buying it?
If you want it so bad then buy it today for $5 more than what Gamestop will end up selling it as used. You dont have to pay $15 for the DLC, you just have to pay $5. Or dont pay any extra for the DLC and still get a new copy by ordering it from Amazon for the same price Gamestop will eventually sell it for as used.

Oh boo hoo, as if the millions of sales this game will generate won't be enough. I'd be more understanding if it was a developer where every digit of sales matter.
It's just really annoying having to miss out on so much of a game because I didn't go straight to the game when the developer released it, as if I have no choice when I am allowed to play the game. Of course, I can always come later, but then I have to put up with an incomplete game.
Then all the Pre-Order items and whatnot, it's like you're now only allowed to enjoy a complete game if you throw caution to the wind and devote yourself to the game, dropping a bundle of cash on a special edition, pre-ordering it, pre-ordering it a certain place, and then playing it when it comes out.
You can't just, you know, get the game when you want and play it when you want and enjoy the whole thing, no. That's just silly!

The entire thing just really pisses me off. There should never be a redemption code packaged with a game to download content that should have been on the disc. There should never be pre-order bonuses for in game content that should have been on the disc. There should never been day one DLC that should have been on the disc. All of this stuff is just part of an anti piracy/used game strategy that hurts consumers. You should NEVER hurt the consumer by trying to prevent piracy and used game sales. EVER.
All of this shit is anti consumer and continues to damage the little good will that's left in this industry. No one gives a shit about anything *but* the bottom line, and I wish that just sometimes companies would realize they'll make enough money and stop with this nonsensical bullshit.

Newsflash: Companies that make video games do not make them out of the goodness of their heart. Companies that make video games do so in order to make money. That is how they pay their employees and satisfy their stockholders so they can make more games.
The used game market hurts the people who make a living by making video games. This kind of DLC is a way for a company to make buying a new game legitimately more attractive than buying it used. It's called adapting in the fact of capitalism. Get over it.

Wasn't the prevailing theory among cynics that the character was sitting on a server somewhere, finished at the same time as the game, and just cut out for the benefit of the company's new game sales?
