for the record, no I personally will not care about the iPad as a device. I am happy with my Laptop, Droid, PSP and DSi for my portable gaming. Each one has a time and a place and I do not see the iPad replacing any of those or worth adding into that fairly large collection of gaming/media devices.

@Kid: why would anyone want a gimped iPhone? with VZ still not having their LTE network ready, you would still be restricted to only using the internet and other net based apps when the phone is not in use(not making a call) and that is a big deal....you don't know how many time I would have to look up an email or find directions while on the phone...CDMA blows ass....Apple knows this...they tried to get VZ to upgrade before going to AT&T....VZ shat on the idea...now they are paying for it

Chris,

You forget, Verizon phones can do anything you want while on a call as long as you are connected to WiFi, like my Storm2 is right now!

It seems to be the job of the analysts to tell the gamers what we already think.

JXC, how do you like the droid? I'm thinking about picking one up.

I see a particular problem here: Most games are controlled by moving the iPhone/iPod Touch back and forth using its built in accelerometer. It’s easy to hold a small physical device like the iPhone in two hands and tilt it every which way. It’s not as easy to do that with a 10 tablet computer. If games are the biggest thing being downloaded, it would seem to me that either there are a lot of freecell and scrabble enthusiasts out there, or these games aren’t being downloaded to a tablet sized device.

I love it. If you do not need a physical keyboard tho I would wait a month or two because there will be faster androids out on Verizon with bigger screens. If you want a keyboard tho, the droid is an amazing phone.

Oh c'mon Chris. The number of people that absolutely need to use data and voice at the same time is so small that it is insignificant. Whats the worse case scenario? You tell the person that you are talking to that you have to call them back in one minute. AT&T is only making it a big deal because that's the best they can come back with to the ass raping that Verizon has been doing with their commercials.

What`s stopping apple from releasing a bluetooth game controller. You`d have a portable gaming system with a 9.7 inch screen! Add a little kickstand and you`re golden.

But uh, the thing about portable gaming systems is you hold the controller and the screen AT THE SAME TIME!

Well, first of all, Apple would have to look at their gaming platform and take it more seriously.

Secondly, they'd have to get devs for games which require an AI that knows more than how to 'Bejewel'.

For all this product placement, I mean. Why make all these separate posts for the same thing unless you're basically advertising it. I know this is what you get paid to do, so I'm wondering how much you're getting for practically filling a day's worth of entries with 1% actual gaming related news and 99% iFad stuff.

The more bullshit separate posts they write about the iPad (or whatever) the higher they will rank in Google for anyone searching it. This is obviously in their interest.

Typing in "apple ipad" in the search bar of google, I readied myself to see joystiq.com's coverage as the top result.

Engadget is number 9, and I've been through six pages of results (so 60 sites, basically) and joystiq isn't even mentioned. Now, how are they attempting to be higher on google's search?

Also, what is a chosen name on a gaming blog indictive of? Am I not qualified to talk about motivations anymore than anyone else since my screen name on here is "Fartbuttface"?

You hit the nail on the head. Fartbuttface.

What idiotic thinking you use, they aren't the number one result, so that means they aren't trying? Increasing their chances of getting hits, no matter how small an amount, is in their best interest, Fartbuttface.

They're not the 100th result either. I can understand wanting to get a better chance, but I wonder who actually looks past the 10th page after searching.

There's another motive here, and I'd like to know what it is. I'd just like someone at Joystiq to confirm or deny that they're getting paid to advertise this. I don't care if they are or not, I'd just like to know if I'm right.

I think Joystiq is ODing a little on the iPad, which is essentially a clickable clipboard. Now the iPaddle, a tennis racket that plays music and tennis and Pac-man, that would be something.
