Harmonix cooperatively developing Green Day: Rock Band with Demiurge, MK12, others

MTV Games has confirmed that Harmonix is working on Green Day: Rock Band. The reiteration follows the widespread misinterpretation of a Demiurge Studios designer's personal blog post, specifically this line: "Not included in the [VGA] announcement was the fact that Demiurge Studios was working on Green Day: Rock Band."

A spokesperson for the publisher told Joystiq in a statement, "Green Day: Rock Band is being developed by Harmonix in partnership with Demiurge, MK12 and others." This is not Demiurge's first time working with Harmonix on Rock Band: the studio had also previously worked on the Rock Band Country Track Pack and the Rock Band Metal Track Pack.

I'm much more interested in the fabled Pearl Jam Rock Band project.

Really? With two full albums and live tracks? There are enough Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Foo Fighters to make a game right there, oh yeah lets not forget Alice In Chains. There is enough DLC to have us Veddered out and Grohl'ed over for a month. Green Day only needed (and i use the word 'need' loosely) a pack of about twenty songs or less and most fans would have been satisfied.

There is really no such thing. HMX have always outsourced.

Smash Hits wasn't that bad, to the extent that the Guitar Hero franchise isn't a total train wreck at current. Other than being a shameless money grab that could have thrown in some more songs, but as I said...this is the Guitar Hero franchise...

They have tons of stuff on the RB store

Thats been out for a while...it's almost like an easter egg of RB/RB2...I tell you how to get to it...what you do is begin the game...at the bottom of the main menu look for the store tab and select it...now your in what is called the music store. Filter the setting alphabetical by band and make your way to "F". Once there you will see Foo Fighters: Rock Band scattered in its many pieces. All thats left to be done is to use credit card, purchase the "game", download, and enjoy...its seems the dlc for FF:RB has hit a bit of a dry spell right now but as soon as Dave Grohl comes back from laughing all the way to the bank, I think things will pick up for ya...so go get 'em tiger!!

Hmmm, A moment of clarity here - Rock Band : Death would be so frakking awesome. Certainly more challenging than the brain dead GD drab.

Greenday? Seriously? So many other bands I can think of that deserve this before freaking Greenday. I will never understand this whole pop-punk thing.

We still haven't even gotten a single Ween song in Rock Band. And Greenday are getting their own game. Lame.

Demiurge did the port for PC for Mass Effect that was nicer than the console versions.

....I highly doubt that since Bioware are a PC development studio. They only develop PC games (Thats why Dragon Age on the consoles was handled by someone else).

You can highly doubt it, or you can look it up and find out within about 15 seconds that it is, in fact, true.

Just give us Rock Band 3 already........
