DLC is not necessary for every game ever.

Agreed. Make a long, complete game, all in one package and I'm sold.

If you know Final Fantasy and Square (later SE) you know there will be "International" Versions comming. Keep in mind that these International Versions usualy were released at least before the European release of most games.
If you don“t get DLC you will buy the game twice if you want all the game contend they release. - Square had "DLC" before there was DLC.

Also keep in mind that Joystiq already posted news about how they actualy cut a full game worth of contend out of FF13. - So much about "should have been on the disc".

The idea of no dlc is an interesting new concept, I hope other developers adopt this model.

Japanese developers have a similar mentality to British builders I believe.

I agree. DLC is supposed to add to the experience and keep the game alive down the road. Not fist the consumer right after they buy your product.

Would people want to buy a movie and then be told, "Oh, you wanted the special features included on the disc? Well, that's not going to happen but here, you can buy it for an all time low of $2!!"
It wouldn't fly there and certain DLC issues in gaming shouldn't fly either. Just because one market has raving, foaming at the mouth fans doesn't make it right.

This is surprising if it's actually true and not a clever marketing scheme. Making people not expect it so that when it comes out one month later it's considered a treat rather than a punishment.

Regardless, if they make a special edition in Japan, which they almost ALWAYS do for every modern FF; there's absolutely no reason not to release the update as DLC here soon after.

I wouldn't necessarily blame SE for the limitations placed upon them by Microsoft's software... if it ends up being DLC, rather than what could have been on a bluray, thank DVDs for that.

Whether I buy this possible DLC or not depends upon how much I enjoy FFXIII and that alone... however, if there isn't any DLC, here's hopin' after the content cut, there's still a healthy and lengthy adventure to be had... or at least as much as DVDs will allow.

How about this...don't call it DLC. Just the stuff that "the game should have had before". Problem solved.

I wonder if movie buff's bitched and whined about going to the theaters and not getting the "complete" movie when director's cuts and extended editions first started coming out as gamers do.

Hey, if you would rather have the exact same thing, but with no option to get some extra stuff if you want it, more power to you.

Just always remember, everyone in the world is out to get you personally.

Glad they didn't spend part of the development cycle planning additional premium content thats so common in western rpgs. Let the game stand on its own and if there is outcry for DLC them go at it at that point. I'm glad they spend the development cycle making the actual game and not some tacky side quest or armor.

Movies are a bad example with the directors cut and other extended edition thing. The difference being that movies cut those specific scenes out and didn't have to work after the movie was done to shoot those scenes.

Completely on topic hopefully the not planned part is true and the "but possible" part never happens. In my opinion RPGs should never have DLC if the storyline is completely wrapped up by the end of the game as every FF game is. Don't get me wrong I loved the DLC of Fallout 3, but the biggest problem it has is *spoiler for cheap gamers* that it can retcon the ending of the game. Definite endings are few and far between nowadays in games, so I appreciated the ending of Fallout 3.

DLC Pack #1 - Ability to go Left

DLC Pack #2 - Ability to go Right

Nah just kidding...they'd release the one to go Right first.

65 mission the harderst one begain at 45 make sure 5 stars u get if not repeat it.

13 chapters story feels short but oh well great story.

farming mobs for gill will take u the longest if u dont have the right acc to make the drop rate drop.

so it's what in store for ff fans in USA and europ.
