Hey, you remember this morning, right? When we told you that the ESRB had rated After Burner Climax for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network? Wasn't that just the tops? Well if that did it for you, here's something that'll positively tickle you pink: Sega has officially confirmed the game for a "Spring 2010" release on the aforementioned digital distribution platforms! The Sega of America blog spilled the deets this afternoon, even handing over a handful of new screens via its Flickr account. We've dropped them below into a convenient little gallery, because we just like you that much.

People keep saying that, but I thought that was on Starfox.

You know I just noticed Outrun, and After Burner has gotten some love with new renditions this generation.
I for one want to see Space Harrier get the same kind of love as well

Not to say this replaces anything, but Bayonetta did its own rendition of OutRun and Space Harrier.
But yeah, we need some Space Harrier love as well.

I guess you can still be a glass half full guy and be glad that at least it doesn't burn before you climax.

Awesome news! Loved playing the old ones on Genesis, and I can't wait to play this. Really brings back memories. I hope they use some songs from the previous After Burner games.

I wanna buy one of those simulator chairs just to play this.
And no, I'm not being sarcastic - It would give the player the TRUE arcade experience.

Is there any relation between this game and Bayonetta, aside from both being developed by Sega? I haven't beaten Bayonetta yet, but its soundtrack has a song called "After Burner (Climax Mix)" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb-xNUPFq2s).

There is a level in Bayonetta based around the After Burner mechanics where that song appears.
It is far from the only game reference/tribute in Bayonetta either.
Outrun, Sonic, Resident Evil 4 and probably more that I missed.
Henshin a go go baby!

Unfortunately, it's by Sega. And they continue to show contempt for good ps3 programming.

Really hope they can release the excellent Star Wars Trilogy arcade game for PS3 etc. Would love to play that again.
