Want to get an early taste of Heavy Rain? Understandably, many readers are still on the fence about Quantic Dream's latest adventure game. "Is it just a long QTE?" "Is it actually a game?" Hopefully, the demo will be able to answer your questions. A free demo will be available on the PlayStation Network on February 11th, in both Europe and North America.
The demo will include two chapters: one featuring FBI agent Norman Jayden attempting to track down the Origami Killer, the other on Joystiq-favorite Scott Shelby, PI.
Just in case news of a demo isn't enough, there's also a new trailer we've tucked away after the break. We do warn you though, it contains some potential spoilers that you may want to save for the final game.
This demo is going to be the turning point for not only me, but a lot of gamers out there who are intrigued by this game/interactive emotion engine (aka game).
Fingers crossed its all it set out to be and not just a 2010 Space Ace!
I'm scared the demo might turn some people off. The game is about choice and consequence, how can they properly show that without it being like an hour long?
Is that video the part where you are getting up and taking a shower and stuff? (On an iPhone, can't watch) If so, I've seen it and I've seen people complain about how mundane it is. What people fail to understand is that it's just a tutorial.
I'm leaning that way, too. I've already decided I'll be picking up the game, so I can't imagine that playing a couple of scenes out of context is really going to enhance the experience.
How does one look American? I don't know...the same way someone can look Japanese, African, or Asian. Don't tell me Europeans don't have distinct features. They're usually thinner, with different bone and jaw structures (in this case of Thom...bad teeth and smaller eyes).
So you are saying in a matter of 300 years Americans have evolved into a different genetic sub class of homo sapein? Holy mackerel! If only Stephen Jay Gould were still alive.
I don't think a demo is a good idea for this game. It'll be too short of a taste of what seems intended as a more epic and involved narrative. I already saw one review (still highly rated) that said it was a QTE-fest, this may just turn more folks off if they are given a small sample without the full opportunity to get immersed in what they're trying to accomplish.
I GIVE THIS MY STAMP OF UNAPPROVALNESS
Really looking forward to picking this up though, and give it my:
Pre-ordered and paid in full. Cant wait to play this masterpiece. I have no doubt Quantic Dream pulled this one off. Absolutely loved Indigo Prophecy and this one looks even better. Hopefully they don't mess up the last 30 mins of Heavy Rain like they did in Indigo Prophecy. Also i'm a sucker for a good murder mystery.
Oh my god this is a movie where you do little controlling and you choose what you wanna do by options that's it ! this is not a video game I Hates This i'm going back To my FPS Games HUR HUR HUR !
really tho i bet i'l hear alot of those types of comments and it really bothers me. it's something different and unique.
if you go to Meta Critic and look up heavy rain their's a review from some German Website and the guy who reviews it said .. this game is basicly choose what you want to happen and continue with the story the guy said he loved the story the graphics and i believe controls ( could be wrong on that and wrong for the next one i write next ) Characters
the guy liked it for what the game was cause he was really into it and gave it a 9/10 and really i hate too see the game get negative reviews like IGN saying one of two things
1. it's a breath of fresh air and the only people who should really pick this is up is if your a fan of pick and choose your decesions to make the adventure if you don't you may wanna stay away from this game
2. or the game was fun at first then 3 hours in it get's repetitive and boring and off and on it get's interesting and boring and we urge people to rent it then buy it.
i for one will be buying it .. may preorder soon ONLY if gamestop is gonna offer the taxidermist DLC with pre-order
Ironically, I JUST checked out the Qore vid on this game, last night, for the first time since downloading it the day it released - Nice little teaser as to what you will have to do in the game. The vid is actually an interactive one you can play multiple times to see the different outcomes. I thought it was cool and was enough to get me even more salivated for the demo on the 11th and, ultimately, the game on the 23rd.
