There's a loading screen in ME2 that says: Import your save game into Mass Effect 3...if you survive.

SOOOOO. Pretty sure that's a dead giveaway that it's in development :3

I'm pretty sure that they said from the beginning that Mass Effect was going to be a trilogy. At least Shepard's story arc is.

Yep, but I'm just saying that they obviously probably started sometime in the development of ME2

I'm at least expecting a Mass Effect 2 expansion announcement and likely trailer. E3's not until May/June which will have been a much longer time after release than when they announced the Dragon Age expansion.

I don't expect an unveiling of ME3, if they do it will probably just be an announcement...no trailer or anything. They've also hinted at Jade Empire 2 for a long time now.

So many possibilities for them, and all we know is no matter what they do it will be great.

Quick!

Should I be a vanguard or soldier?

If you're playing on anything over Normal difficulty go soldier. Vanguard's special move, while badass, isn't all that great in the useful category as it leaves you very vulnerable after the charge. You will get destroyed using it on insane, where you pretty much have to stay back most of the time.

The Charge saved me a bunch of times on insane. Helps greatly when the big, bad Krogans come a-knocking. You should only really use it in dire situations like that or when there's few enemies left, especially if they are those Krogans ha ha. The other 2 abilities Vanguards get are helpful as well.

I recommend soldier, the assault rifles were very very useful, and not that far into the game you get access to an upgrade that lets you have one of your squadmates special abilities, so you can be a soldier and use biotic slam or whatnot. The powers have to be unlocked through loyalty quests, but you can get the upgrade several times to swap it out

It was announced when ME1 was and they said it was going to be a trilogy story arc and all three titles would see release this console generation.

My only hope for The Old Republic, is that we can either find Darth Revan, or details on what happened to him/her after KotOR.

I just popped Mas Effect 2 into my 360 for the first time. I am literally moments away from playing.

I am oddly nervous.

@Everyone

You're all taking this too seriously, jeez. Alright, tmac has no bias whatsoever, and he treats Mass Effect like every other game.

Is there any possibility I might like 2?

2's miles better in every aspect so...maybe? I can't really tell someone if they'll like a game or not without knowing them. All I can say is it's close to becoming my favorite game ever but I'm only probably 60%-70% done, so take that for what it's worth.

Depends on what you didn't like about it. If you didn't enjoy the story, then no, there is no hope for you. Gameplay has been improved, especially combat.

I found ME1's shooter mechanics to be poorly implemented, and it made the game pretty slow. The combat in ME2 is much, much better, as feels very fluid. ME2 is not just more of ME1.

Unless of course, you were never drawn in by the story, in which case, what the hell is wrong with you? ME2's characters are much more deep, though.

I didn't mean it in a bad way. You'd have to have been here long enough to understand just how deep tmac's love of Mass Effect really is.

The story was a little eh, and I just found most of the characters and NPC's boring and I didn't like how I was essentially RoboCop in terms of actions and human expression. Stone faced for everything.

Like, you'd talk to people and it was like talking to walking encyclopedias.

I'm having a good time with ME2, but some of the design changes I just can't agree with like the HUD.

I really liked the way it was in ME1, in the corner just simple health bars and partner name. Having it hide away when combat ended.

Now we have some cut and paste effects with the partner heads in the bottom of the screen. For one it doesn't fit the streamlined sci-fi feel the rest of the menus have, two, it's not even helpful compared to a name/health bar, and for three, during missions it's on ALL THE TIME.

Next time you load a mission up, weapon holstered, you'll see two tiny creepy partner faces stuck on Shephard's ass cheeks. And you can't get rid of them.

@Reuben But he hasn't been paid off, he doesn't work there, doesn't have family working there and has no connection to the game other than he loves it absolutely. How's that bias? That said, WC, it's better than ME1 in every way, they're completely different games, very very different and 2 is miles better than 1

I guess I'll give it a shot then.

I wasn't full of dislike playing ME1, like I wasn't like "oh, this is painful". It was more like "wow, this is like watching paint dry in opera form".

Give ME2 a chance. It's an excellent game, even if the step back RPG-wise has riled a few feathers on these here internets. What you gain in exchange for the streamlined experience is worth more than keeping, say, the awful vehicle segments from the first game, or the awful inventory system.

Basically that is my only complaint with the game. It's also not as satisfying earning experience after a mission and not during, but it's forgivable.

The scanning section is OK, but I have to admit I do miss the Mako. Not the planets that I drove it on however.

The game is awesome combat wise and story wise however. Major improvement over the first.

I was never the biggest fan of KOTOR. I just have never liked turn-based rpg's where you just sit there, chose your attack and watch them attack. That's why I like all the Mario and Luigi games so much.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I'm about 1/4 the way through my very last insanity playthrough, both for my last achievement, and because I'm doing EVERY quest/sidequest/etc. so I can get the very MAX out of my ME2 playing.

will not be buying a single piece of Mass Effect content if I can't share it with my kids.

Why is the DLC for this game only allowed for the account that "registers" it. I have two kids who share the same xbox with their own xbla accounts (thanks MS for forcing me to pay twice).

Why is DLC downloaded on my XBL account not available to other family members who use the same xbox, this is BS. All other DLC for all other games is. What really pisses me off the most is my poor son, who plays the games the most is the person being penalized. He has no access to the cerebus network, which if you're listening EA guarantees I "WILL NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING" for this game EVER, if I cannot at least share it with my own family members.

I plan on posting this info everywhere I can and hopefully EA's penny pinching BS will be announced to the world.
