Yes, Bizarre Creations' fast-paced, Mario Kart-esque combat racer Blur will apparently have a story, according to the trailer above. We're just as surprised as you! Frankly, we expected the game to be completely plotless, unless you consider "you're a guy who doesn't like being blown up or not finishing in first place" a plot, which we don't.
Check out the trailer above to get a brief taste of what the game's story and character progression will entail. We guess we're okay with these two elements being present in the game -- provided they don't provide long pauses between our drivefights.

I don't think the story matters here. It's all about blowing up the people in other cars in crazy ways.

it basically *is* Mario Kart, but the jury is still out as to whether that's a bad thing or not. Right now, it looks fun ... but for how long? I don't know if this game justifies $60 yet.

May I ask...why? There are great racing games out there, both with arcade AND simulation "physics", like Forza Motorsport 3, Need For Speed Shift (it has some bugs, I know), Burnout Paradise, PGR4, Mario Kart Wii...

This game looks really promising. I love the visual style and the blend of "real" cars with powerups. I'm gonna wait for reviews and impressions but I'll probably end up getting it.

That's insulting to Burnout! :) It looks like Burnout *minus* something--but I can't quite put my finger on what that is.

Well... the Storyparts in Midnight Club L.A. were funny enough without sucking like the NFS Story-Parts and gave the game some life.
But how about making the GAMEPLAY fun first?.... because... well... in most racing games it just isn't fun to drive...
In Forza 3... collecting Cars is fun, Painting Cars / Collecting Paintjobs is fun, the Physics are very nice, performance tuning is CRAZY, graphics are good enough for a Console game... but the actual racing in the game could be so much more fun if there were just more Tracks and a better A.I. ...driving in Singleplayer is just boring after you've seen them all 100 times, the difficulties normal and hard are so extreme diffrent that normal is way to easy to be fun and hard is pretty much impossible to beat for me... would need a middlething there so it would have challange but still wasn't to hard.
In NFS Shift... well driving was garbage, had no feel to it... just kept playing because of the nice graphics but the gameplay generated no fun for me. Shift was better then the last NFS Parts i'll give it that but in the end it still lacked important parts to make it a good game.
Now GRID and CMR DIRT2 ....in those games it is just FUN to Drive, the Cars have a good and real enough feeling to them, it is sometimes hard to control the cars (like it should be!), the other cars are not to easy and not to hard (multiple difficulties) and it is just fun to RACE. Graphics are good too... BUT thats about it... no customizing cars, no modding, no tuning, no selfmade Paintjobs....
after 2 - 6 weeks GRID and DIRT2 were old and there was nothing left to do, still i think those were the best racing games in the last few years...
but somehow i allways get drawn back to Forza for the car Collecting and Paintjobs... until i get bored of the gameplay again.
Why cant there be a perfect mix out of all of that?
Something is allways screwing it up in the end.
For BLUR... didn't seen much of it but looks like NFS-Mario Kart to me. Which COULD be fun but i would first have to test it.
Midnight Club LA had stuff like EMP Strikes and Roar,,, could have done without it but didn't destroy the fun either...

Looks like a fun little game. Not $60 worth for sure, maybe in the $20-$30 range. I'm eager to see some actual gameplay footage though. They've been showing the same video footage for months now.
