I hope we can get the Tomb Raider DLC too. When they announced that TR DLC would be exclusive to Xbox, I was like, fu** you Eidos.

TR was always on Playstation, Eidos ruined for fans of the game who owns a PS3. My hope is that this contract with MS it's timed exclusive just like with netflix and GTA IV and someday we can see the DLC coming to PS3.

The good news is that even if this DLC doesn't come to PS3, I don't think the next game will have this crap exclusive to one console, because Warner Bros bought Eidos.

Microsoft's already got what they wanted from the original deal. Not only did the 360 version of the game outsell the PS3 version buy about a million and a half copies worldwide, but they put a serious cap on PS3 hardware sales from the announcement that GTA IV was coming to 360 day and date with PS3 with exclusive DLC at E3 '06 until a little while after the game launched in April '08. This also obviously increased their own hardware sales as well.

While this is great for PS3 owners who still have GTA IV or would like to jump back into it, and I'm sure this will sell enough to justify what I can only assume will be a relatively easy port (since the original game and engine have been up and running for a while now), this really is just a way to for Rockstar and Take-Two to boost some admittedly rough financial statements.

Not a popular statement you made there. You're not a fanboy, but why the paragraph?

It would've been easier to say you're happy this exclusively paid DLC bullshit is over and in the future, consoles should rid themselves of exclusive agreements like these and sell the same game (in its entirety) to everybody.

@ Wiizer

Originally, the point of downvoting was the removing of spam and obvious trolling. Now it's just to make any comment that, like you said, is unpopular harder to read. What I'm saying isn't untrue and it isn't fanboyish. That's the situation with the GTA DLC.

Personally, as much as I may not like exclusive DLC, I get why it exists, and as a consumer, I'm not gonna complain about it. Maybe that's just because I have both consoles, but honestly, Sony and Microsoft are just trying to increase software sales in comparison to their competitor. That's just what this is, and even though the PS3 is getting the GTA DLC, "the damage has been done."

@ That Burning Sensation

And in that one sentence you could have done a lot more then just showing you're a mindless troll. Good job.

@kenny goo-

I have to disagree with you about exclusive DLC. I understand why console-makers try to secure it - it's a good selling point for their machine - but it seems short-sighted and greedy on the part of developers who agree to it. For instance, when I chose a PS3, I knew it would mean that I couldn't play Halo, Gears, Alan Wake, or any number of other really excellent-looking titles, BUT I could play God of War, LBP, KZ2, Heavy Rain, and the Team ICO games, and that's OK. It's normal, healthy competition. Exclusive DLC is different. I don't like getting some - but not all - of an experience simply because the developer had a fat check staring them in the face. Shouldn't the primary goal of a developer be (beyond being profitable for their shareholders) to serve their fans? Agreeing to provide exclusive DLC shows that R* or Bethesda really don't give a rat's ass about their fans. In my case, it's made me adamant about never giving either of those companies a dime again. I like their product, but I'll buy it from the used bin so they don't profit from it (I figure they already got paid plenty. I'd honestly rather give my money to Gamestop - and that's saying something). As you said, the damage has been done.

@ Zampano

Most of the time, platform owners pay the developer to create content that will only be available on one platform and increase the sales there. Making a third party game itself exclusive to one platform usually costs too much money for the platform holder, so exclusive DLC is a good step down but serves the same purpose on a smaller scale, especially for people who have both platforms and don't care where they play.

It may end up screwing over the consumer sometimes, but there are much, much more annoying business practices in the gaming industry in my opinion. I think fighting piracy and used games by screwing over the consumer is *much* worse then fighting competition by screwing over the consumer. To each his own though.

wow it took its time but finally I'll be able to play this...come to think of it the PS3 may benefit more with the expansions releasing now, thanks to the price cut and its "momentum", than it would if they had released alongside the 360 versions.

I actually got rid of my PS3 version of GTA IV.
With only a 40gb the 5gb mandatory install was a pain.
(I know I really need to update my HDD)

While it's nice this is finally coming to PS3

I'm just going to go buy the GTA IV Collector's and this for 360

You could get a 1TB drive for the desktop for nearly the same price as a 500GB for a laptop or the ps3, Or 250GB if you own an xbox360. "But you don't need a 250GB drive for the 360!!!" i hear you answer, "You are correct but installing the game on the x360 will get rid of that annoying noise that is the DVD drive spinning, plus it makes loading faster as well"

I hate exclusives, this didn't make me want an Xbox when it came out, and it didn't make me hate my PS3. I just made me angry that companies just piss all that extra money into screwing each other over, and it's the community that suffers.

Well, actually, no reason not to get the 360 disk version, but no reason not to wait for the DLC either.

I don't think sales will suffer too much because of other games. If anything this benefits from god of war being pushed up two weeks. The original date was supposed to be around the 30th, which would have been a real problem for this.

I think the sales will suffer more from having to wait a year for the freaking thing to com out more than anything else. Also the failure to patch broken multiplayer modes in GTA itself.

Seeing as there was nothing seriously wrong with the games, you're basically bragging about getting 1 game several months later than everyone else, and another even later.

This is similar to when Bioshock and Oblivion went over to ps3 too. It took so long after the 360 versions released that no one really cared anymore.

Is it possible to be surprised yet not so surprised at all?

I think most people were suspecting some caveats to that Microsoft-Rockstar deal. I wonder if the $50 million investment by MS was worth it.
