Unfortunately, it's become commonplace among my coworkers to mention me in any posts relating to Pokémon. Let me make one thing clear: I don't have an unhealthy obsession with the franchise. I just think it's an incredibly deep and compelling series of turn-based RPGs, and while there may have been a time in my youth when I watched the anime or bought the merchandise, I'd like to think I've grown older and wiser since the late 90s. I only wish my coworkers would treat me as such.
Now, let me just check my news feed real quick, and I'll ... I'll ...
Holy CRAP! You guys, they announced a new Pokémon DS game -- not like a crappy offshoot like Trozei or Snap, but a totally new generation -- can you BELIEVE IT? Well Snap was okay, but anyways. Nintendo's announcement said there'd be new Pokémon and that "everything is planned to be born anew," and while I don't know what that means, I think my heart stopped a little when I read it! AHH!! It's coming this year. 2010! I knew when this year started that it was going to be the BEST YEAR EVER.

With four primary regions, nearly 500 critters, and sixteen games in the main series spread out over four handheld generations and fifteen years, it's frankly impossible to guess how Nintendo and Game Freak can make the series "new" again.
The fact that they will somehow manage to do *exactly that* is at once wonderful and terrifying.

By "born again", my theory is... starting over. Like, as if the previous Pokemon never existed. Have just 100-200 Pokemon, all new ones granted, but that's it. No transferring Pokemon over. Old Pokemon are for the older generations, this is almost completely unrelated.
Okay, second theory: completely new gameplay. Maybe real time RPG. Almost like Pokemon Rumble only... not sucky, haha. (Okay, wasn't HORRIBLE, but not being able to level up made it kinda... eh...)
Or Nintendo can be lame and make that mean, "NOW THE POKEMON WILL SAY THEIR ACTUAL NAMES INSTEAD OF MAKING WEIRD CLEARLY SYNTHETIC SOUNDS!!!" Which is long overdue, but hardly making it "born again".
Oh, I'm sorry, they said "born anew". But maybe, as the article was interpreted from Japanese, it means the same as "born again". Holy crap... THEY'LL BE CHRISTIAN POKEMON!!! "HITMONJESUS, GO!!! USE HOLY FIRE!!! YES, ISLAMON FAINTED!!!" ...sorry, that was bad... I'll be good, haha

It just seems like it's all emerging at once with Nintendo. Though we don't have as much to go on for this.

I'd love to play a pokemon game, but not the rehashed crap they've been spewing out ever since the first year of the genre. I want something new and exciting that brings collection addiction and monster fighting into 2010.

Yeah I like pokemon but it is such a wasted potential.
Like why do you always have to be a little kid leaving home (a small town...)? Can't there be another reason why you are a pokemon trainer ffs?
Square-Enix would make an awesome pokemon game I reckon.

With a little punctuation his use of 'there' is correct.
"POKEMON! there *points* my best friends.
It's a phrase Ash has said many times when he is walking the land.

If Nintendo ever makes a powerful console, I demand a Pokemon MMORPG, it would be PERFECT! At least an open world WoW/Oblivion Pokemon game, that would be... AWESOME! But I don't want to see it on the Wii.

I would like to see a (real) home-console version of Pokemon, I've outgrown the show many moons ago, but there is nothing wrong with the gameplay except the 2" screen.

Damn. Something really, really new?
Sounds like a completely new direction for the series.
Sounds quite scary to be honest.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke... but on the other hand... I'd love to play something fresh...

I'm guessing that 2010 would equate to 2011 for us. That's how HG/SS was, 09/10.
But still, how much more innovative can you get with Pokemon?

I was actually thinking with everything they've introduced into the Pokemon series so far, I can't think of anything else they could add that would be more innovative.
Here's hoping for something good.
