I've rented Fallout 3 3 times...

DLC made me want to come back over and over again, I bought it the third time from Gamefly though.

I wish gamefly had the GotY edition so I could get that from them and not have to buy the DLC

Hey I know for most of us the day just started, and there is still plenty of time for someone else to totally blow you out of the water, but I'm calling it now.

You just created the most pointless, time-wasting, idiotic, spam-like post of the day.

Congrats on wasting those few bytes of server space with your unnecessarily long repetitious comment.

Well I sent an email off to Chris and Andrew since they both seem to keep well on top of things, and not to mention they will probably be up in another hour or two (based on their last article post time).

Well it could be that more of the younger crowds have Xbox360/Wii. Xbox360 had 1 Christmas season and Wii had nearly 2 as being the must have item under the tree. PS3 just had 1 this last year because with the re-launch of the PS3 slim it'd done better than what it has at launch.

I don't know how it was for everyone else growing up but, my parents bought me 2-3 games a year and the rest were rentals. Now that I'm an adult I buy most of my games and hardly rent.

Add to that the PS3 had a ton of "must have" games last year. From Killzone2 to Uncharted 2 there were a lot more exclusives that were worth owning. If PS3 gamers rented them that means that gaming population spread across 10 games. Not to mention scenarios where Third-Party games are going against First-Party exclusives. If Xbox360 owners had the choice buying Halo 3 or renting Skate you know the decisions unanimous well that happened over and over again for the PS3 gamers last year.

There's a lot of different reasons but, I think those are the few I can think of off the top of my head. I wouldn't be surprised if it was different next year.

And just in case someone comes off screaming my opinions wrong it's just my opinion I own all 3 so I hold little to no bias..

Xbox 360 owners are poor or don't have the money right away. They can't afford the luxurious PS3.

That would be true if the PS3 didn't cost as much as the Xbox360...

i think kids has nothing to do with it. if that was the case then the wii would have more games on there. more kids own a wii than the total number of kids that own a ps3 and 360 combined (i assume, based upon the giant market lead). keep in mind that kids can spend their money on anything, and most wives and such probably dont think spending $ 60.00 on every new game is a good financial decision for the family. 1 example there. hell many adults on this site rent games from gamefly.

IMO the % of adults on psn and xbl is about the same.
now maturity levels on both consoles is another story.

its not hard to understand that more people buy xbox 360 games than ps3 games and therefore more people rent 360 games than ps3 games.
when 2 times more people buy fallout 3 and MW2 on the 360, more people will be renting on that platform also.

this has more to do with the fact that 360 sells, and now rents better than ps3 software still. fanboys please dont get mad, just look up the figures. there are a few games that sold more copies on ps3, but hundreds of games over the past 4 years that sold more copies on the 360. and some of those games like MW sold millions of more copies on the 360.

What gets me is that the game most likely to make you sink 200 hours of your life into it is at the top of the list! You could buy the game 10 times over in the amount of time it would take to complete it.

I expected to see lots moree of mediocre games on the list - games that people may be unsure about.

I still don't get renting anyways. Why not buy the game, keep it for a while in (pristine condition) and sell it on ebay for very close to retail value whenever your done with it? This way I keep the games I truly love and can retrieve any money spent on those that are only good for a few weeks worth of entertainment.

uhhh Renting is cheaper than buying....thanks....you dont have to see a reason to do so....I don't see a reason to buy something I am not going to keep....nor do I see a reason to sell/trade games

I've played hundreds of games in my life, thanks to rentals... I currently pay $35 a month for two at a time unlimited rentals at BB. So when I rent games, I keep them as long as I want, and I can rent movies in between games. If I rent a shitty game, I can turn around and trade it in an hour later... With zero additional cost.

With programs like this, I honestly don't see how many games get purchased! I've had my ps3 for 3 years now and I do own a dozen games, but I only buy great games that have high replay value, and/or party play value. Renting has allowed me to experience a ton of games that are fun, yet not worth owning. You've just gotta rent smart.

My biggest fear is that digital distro is gonna derail this gravy train, and I'll have to go back to paying $8 a week for each game. Just look at the movie rentals on PSN... It's 4-6 dollars to "rent" a movie for a short time, with absolutely no unlimited rental option. I've added up my movie and game rentals for a month, and if I paid the traditional way, I'd be up over $100 a month for blu-rays and games.... $35 is awesome in that context.

Some great games on that list, but I can never gamefly a game. I'm just the type of person who loves the collection, and the ability to go back to games I played. For instance, Fallout 3.

Well Fallout is an RPG, thats one of the games you SHOULD own if you plan to sink 100+ hours into it....I rented it with the plan on Keeping it, then I heard about the DLC coming to PS3 and just sent it back with a plan to buy the GotY version, which I still need to get

Am I the only one who still rents at a video store? Granted, I've been going there for almost 20 years now, and it's only a few blocks away...but still. Seems like everyone Gameflys these days. A service which I've enjoyed myself on occasion, but it'll never replace Family Video for me.

Everytime I walk into a Blockbuster, the depression on the employees faces make me sad to the point where I can't concentrate on my choices. Once I walked out with Farcry the movie rather than the game.

See, I'm not a Blockbuster person. I never go into there, or Hollywood Video. Ok, I have a card for both, but it's like...once every couple of years. Family Video is a nationwide chain, but they have more of a "hometown/homegrown" feel. They don't cost as much as BB or HV, you can buy half-price discounts on everything for $10 a month, and you're not stuck renting something for at least 5 days or a week, or whatever. It's 1 day, 2 days, or 5 days. I like that. That way, I can rent a new game, and if it sucks, just take it back the next day. And rambling now over.

I don't usually rent games but Fallout 3 was the one game I wanted to rent last year just to check it out. In the end I never rented it but I did pick it up earlier this month and I'm glad I finally did. I enjoyed it for a good solid week (...and then got E74'd).

Ok I have to know about that image, because I haven't seen that one before.

Is it from a t-shirt? It looks like it would make a great t-shirt.

Renting Fallout 3 is a money pit. That game makes you complete it. It takes an average of 5-6 months to finish it not counting the DLC. So that means if you do Gamefly you are looking at $50-$60 just to rent the damn thing, and if you do the whole Blockbuster thing its around the sames thing too but you need to keep going back to the store every week.

In short people who rented Fallout 3...dumbasses.

5-6 months to beat Fallout 3??? Uhhhh... Try 3 weeks with a full-time job and gf playing most nights for an hour or two. You either really need to set aside more "me" time or you play games with your feet.

Well lets see. You have a cheaper console with the same graphics as the expensive console with just as many if not more exclusive games for the 360. I mean Uncharted 2 is the only game of worth that is even remotely cash worthy.
