First issue of Mass Effect iPhone comic free on launch day
29
Beginning February 3, the first issue of the four-part comic series Mass Effect: Redemption will be available on the iTunes App Store. To celebrate its release, Dark Horse and EA have announced the issue will be free for a limited time. How limited is the "free digital comic" window? One day only. After February 3, the digital release is bumped up to 99 cents. Of course, if you're a Mass Effect 2 fanatic you probably own the collectors' edition, which included a mini-version of the first issue. But, if you love moving pictures, a free digital comic is a hard thing to ignore.

Hah I got mine with the collectors edition.
I could care less for the iPhone anyways. It may be ahead of its time, but Droids as for customization are so much better.

Game is made by BioWare. Comic is published by Dark Horse.
Game is on the 360 and PC. Comic is on paper and iPhone. I'm not really seeing a problem here?

God of War 3 certainly wins the award for most unconvincing demo of all time. Seriously, that was God of War 2. Don't lie to me.

I was afraid to crease the comic in some manner, so I did not read it...

I'm a big comic fan so I picked up the first issue at the comic store (and will probably buy the rest as well). Having said that it was sort of meh. Liara is probably the least interesting character in the entire series. I would have much prefered Garrus or pretty much anyone else to be the main character. The artwork is fine, the writing is fine it's just pretty 'meh'. I, however, am a sucker for the Mass Effect world and buy the books as well so I will read and enjoy the comics.
If you love Mass Effect then you should pick this up as it will fill in some of the details between the games. If not you can probably pass a the first issue wasn't anything special.

Does this comic explain why my blue lesbian lover from the first game totally blew me off this time through?

Surprisingly yes.
She's trying to take revenge on the guy who wants to keep you dead. Blinded by hatred and rage and whatnot. Would be nice if she could say something about it to you, though.

Conveniently mammalian alien boobies and big pouty lips.
Can't she breed more like a seahorse instead? Where she lays a cluch of eggs, Shepard fertilizes them, and then has to carry them around in his mouth until they hatch and he can spat them into the larval pool when they grow into new blue seahorse ladies? I don't need this teenage fap material; I'm a weird old pervert. Where's my hanar romance?

After the sex, Tali could knock Shepard out, extend her ovipositor and lay her eggs under his skin. By the end of the game, they've gnawed their way through him and burst forth as little quarian nymphs. Shepard makes no attempt to have them removed, as to ensure his children's future. He dies smiling at his new seed wriggling forth from their pupal sacs, drenched in his blood. Now that's love.
Plus the consequences could carry over to ME3.

I've read the first issue, and I'll probably pick it up when (and if) it becomes a trade. But I have to agree with Rocket. I just don't find Liara all that interesting. If I had my choice, I'd rather read about Garrus, Wrex, or Tali. In that order.

Free really is the only good price for this thing, though $0.99 isn't too terrible. Compared to the amazing story of the game, the comic is D-U-L-L. In typical start-up comic fashion, it lulls around being boring the whole issue to only get any amount of interest at the end, to hook you in for the next issue...which will almost certainly follow the same formula.
