this is a commendable effort, but this guy needs to think about the MIX. he's way too attached to letting the whole song play out, often in order. the point of sampling and remixing is....well.....to sample and remix. i do sampling and production and i'm seeing a lot of spots where he could have extracted some nice loops to carry the beat, instead he just let's the whole FF7 track play and it doesn't work.

chop that shit up!

Team! Team, team, team, team, team. I even love saying the word "team!" You probably think that's a picture of my family. Uh-uh. It's the A-Team. Bodie, Doyle, Tiger, Jewellery Man. The whole lot of them.

After the first min of each song I started to get bored. It was interesting to hear how he mixed it, but because of the lack of mixing you're pretty much just sticking around to hear the rest of the lyrics, which I really don't care about. Still, if you LIKE hip-hop you might like this I guess.

Needs to find me some more video game remixes.

love rap, hate this. but i hate the fact that people are hating more on rap than this bad mix.

Innovative and clever, I think some of the songs could have been done better, but I tossed them a few bucks for it, worth it for creativity.. Prelude didn't just sound right with vocals over it.

Jay-Z over Mako Reactor seemed to fit really well though.

Tom Waits is Awesome with a capital A.
I'll pay money for that.

Is Tom Waits a gamer? I can see him being a big fan of Fallout 3, Infamous (if just for the style and soundtrack - which sounds like it was done by him), Rez, and San Andreas.
I can't imagine Final Fantasy being down his dark alley, but you never know.

I was genuinely interested in this... until after I heard the first track. What the hell happened to that track? They didn't exactly meld together seemlessly, to say the least... That was embarassing. I'm sure there's the possibility to alter the sound of the soundtrack into a hip-hop version but to just mix it together? That's just plain weird... and wrong... and it just sounds so... wrong.

>>but we often find ourselves wishing those games' scores were infused with a touch of Jay-Z.

Just NO.

But Jay-Z plays... Madden... and.... "all types of games"!

Seriously though, if you actually turned him and/or Eminem loose on this soundtrack they would likely come up with something good. The scores are mostly unaltered, and they are at nearly equal volume to the vocals which is a bit distracting in places. It'd be interesting to see what a Remix would yeild if they werent using mere stock score tracks.

rap? sorry not my thing so I have lost interest. FFVII? I have the original soundtrack and it is a brilliant score. I can't see how mixing it with hip hop would be a good thing, but to each his own...

Some of these tracks feel too rushed and awkward. Like Jay-Z vs Mako Reactor starts off as two songs playing at once and isn't a flowing mix. Nice try tho.
