In a recent interview with the New York Times, Dante's Inferno executive producer Jonathan Knight responded curiously to a query about the possibility of upcoming adaptations of the other two installments in the Divine Comedy, Purgatorio and Paradiso. According to the Times, "Knight said his team was focused on the release of Dante's Inferno as well as on additional downloadable content for that game," though he later confessed "I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about that."
We think Visceral's missing out on a great chance to kill two birds with one stone -- why not make Purgatorio and Paradiso DLC packs for Inferno? For instance, a few months after the game comes out, release a patch that makes the game's load times last for 49 days. Boom. Purgatorio in the bag.
Update: As awesome as that sounds, it's more likely he was talking about the "Dark Forest" prequel DLC that will come bundled with the Limited Edition version of the game on PS3. We're still going to hold out hope, though!

All they'd have to do is copy the first part of God of War 1, and bam, you've got Moses.
I kinda miss when DLC was an idea to extend the life of a game after it's all said and done. Like, "hey, we don't have to completely seal off our games anymore, we can give people new little things later". But now they completely decide what that's going to be before the game is even out, and have this whole dictatorship on what constitutes a 'finished' game or not, and what can be withheld to be added in later and everything.
In one sense it allows more flexibility, in another it just lets them release a game they could have pushed harder on to later sell you all those things for excessive prices.

but here's the thing, most DLC sucks. It's easy to just ignore it. It's like the deleted scenes of movies...they were left out for a reason.
chances are the DLC for this game will be pretty crappy or it will be nothing but some extra challenges for the hardcore followers.

There was a Bible video game a long time ago. I never played it but I remember seeing it when it first came out.

DLC, that is involved in the story - thats released on DAY ONE, makes me dislike the game. Like dragon age - day one DLC, and you can pretty much start it within the first hour or so. Yet they charge $7 - feels so much like its on the disc, it pisses me off.

Right take the easy road.. make an M rated action game base off of the Holy Bible, where in the worst case sernario you will have abunch of Christian regilious groups\counsils making noise everywhere. Why not grow some balls and try to make the same game based off the Holy Qur'an. Yeah...thats what I thought. Some things should just be reverend and leave it as that. I don't believe such a game should be made from any religion to the point that the Massiah of that belief is the main protagonist.....its just tasteless and disrespectful.

Ah yes, because Purgatorio and Paradiso were badass, action-filled, totally awesome places worthy of being God of W- I mean Dante's Inferno DLC.

Oh no, now you've done it. Here come all the people claiming this isn't like God of War at all, and there's a whole genre about this gameplay style including Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden even though Dante's Inferno has absolutely no relation to those to and a mirror resemblance to God of War with the culture switched.

From what I've seen of gameplay seems closer to ninja gaiden or devil may cry but the overall atmosphere does seem to be very close to GOW. And it's been said before but GOW is a great game and a ripoff of it, while not original, can still be a lot of fun.

Have these guys even read the book before stating they are thinking about adapting Purgatorio and Paradiso? I hope they at least read the whole inferno part instead of wikipeding the circles of hell and working from there.

We talking about Transformers 2? That felt like some kind of circle of hell.

Wow...according to about 90% of what I've read (not just here), the game is getting quite a bit of undeserved hate due to it not being exactly like the book & it being similar to God of War in gameplay.
So it's similar to GOW...whoopity doo! It's the same with everything else...anything that comes out that's in space & a fps...it's a Halo clone...a modern type of FPS it's a COD clone...any fantasy based MMO is a WoW clone...it never ends.
No one is forcing you to buy it. I for one thoroughly enjoyed the demo & am quite looking forward to the full retail release.

It's not that, it's more like if you were playing a shooting game as a guy in space wearing battle armor and his name his Commander and you fight off an alien swarm called The Blood while looking for a device to activate the Ring.
On top of that the 'it doesn't fit the book' thing is more a balk at how ridiculous it is to claim such a union when you're so distanced? Why not just make it its own thing?
There's also this sense to it, like, we're too stupid to have a game actually based of Dante's Inferno and have to have to slapped down to a giant muscle man tearing apart monsters with a blood soaked clever while staring at bare tits. Goodness forbid anyone do anything clever or original, either.

Tho, not all the "clones" pretty much got the (almost) exact same button presses as the game its cloning. =/

You'll have to find the mag scan in your own, however, as I'm sure Joystiq doesn't want scans being posted here.

Apparently the newest spoiler on the street is that Dante dies at the end of Inferno, Beatrice was an illusion created by Lucifer, and Lucifer himself actually lives, though with less minions than he had before.
I'd say that it's nice to see Visceral ripping off of their own plot elements, but in retrospect, it's actually not.

I don't see why people like GoW so much. Yeah its one of the only good games that teach some mythology but Kratos is just some video game character thats in perma roid rage. At least in Dante's inferno hes going to have to go through many characteristics of man instead of just RAAAAGING through the entire game.

honestly playing GOW1 and 2 again in the Collection, I don't like them nearly as much as I originally did on PS2. I kind of felt the same way as with the GOW3 demo: It relies far too much on spectacle, except that spectacle isn't really that impressive now.

What's next? A Devil May Cry clone starting a chick and some butterflies?
(Just kidding... I like all of those games.)

Why is everyone bitching it's not like the book? I bet half of you have even read it. Second, since when is a adaption from a book to a movie/game exactly like the book?

You dont have to read too deep into the book to realize its nothing like it. A game tracking the book would have no action. Dante just listens and talks sometimes. Even a movie would be torture. (no pun intended)
Its the imagery that should be the same in the game and the book. After all, the imagery is what makes the book so kick ass.
From what I saw in the demo, there is a lot of imagery from the book. I am willing to accept a fighting Dante to go through the visualized poem.
