With over 500,000 copies in the wild there is no chance this will be a collectors item....My Perfect Dark collectors tin case stands a better chance and that game is really bad.....Its all about the distribution......More than a few thousand and forget about making any money.....Unless you sell it back to GameStop for $4.00 off your next trade or $2.00 cash.....LOL

I had yet to get this game, and then when this was announced my wife said to get a copy. So, the strategy works to get us off the couch and into the store.

IT'S A TRAP!

Nintendo is only discontinuing Metroid Prime Trilogy so they can repackage it later with the Metroid, Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.

Good thing I already picked it up. Prime introduced me to the wonders that is the Metroid series, so I felt like I'd be insane not to buy a copy.

Although, I didn't realize it was a collector's edition. I had to have been pretty oblivious, probably because to me it was just a normal compilation, and the standard video game price tag on the Wii didn't change my mind about it.

I want to buy it because it's rare.
But then I remember i'm not a huge fan of the Prime games.
2D for me, I really dislike 3D metroid

That's exactly how I felt. When they announced it I started to freak out about how I needed to get a copy before they were all gone, and then I realized that I don't even like the Prime games.

Same here! I played about half way through Prime 1 on the cube, got Prime 3 on launch day and I've only played it for three hours!

What's the confusion? Nintendo stops making them, and you can still get them until they're sold out.

Did I miss something?

it's about time a Limited Time Collectors Edition is truly "Limited"

I bet they will sell prime trilogy in the future again just not in the Metal Case

On a side note, the "Limited Edition" Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence game is going for $250 on Amazon. That is truely "limited!"

I remember first buying it for $50. When it got stolen from me, I ended up spending $100 just to get a new one!

This game sold too much to ever be worth money.

However "Dead Space Extraction" sold really, really badly, AND is (allegedly) a good game. That's the key to value (see also: Chrono Trigger, Snatcher)

Plus you get Dead Space Girl all to yourself.

Let's face it. Most of the people who wanted the Metroid Prime games, bought the Metroid Prime games. This collector's edition was mostly for people who had not already invested in the series.

I don't see the core audience of the Wii placing THAT much demand on the product, no matter how great of a series Metroid Prime is.

This is mostly true. I only bought the Trilogy because I had not yet bought the 3rd game, and the Trilogy was the same price, so I just bought that.

Had I already bought the 3rd game though I would not have bought this at all...

I got the Metroid Prime games, but after playing Metroid Prime 3, I couldn't go back to the Gamecube controls of Metroid Prime 1 and 2, no matter how good those games were.

So I feel quite justified in buying the Trilogy as well.

I would so fall into that trap.

Metroid is truly a pristine franchise. I can't think of a single game I didn't love to death. Metroid II needs more love.

You were researching me? Well you are right I dont usually post, just read. It was your insult that 95% of the joystiq readers would have to google your fancy word, yet you didn't know how to spell it. The irony of this would not let me read the next article without saying something. I thought I would have some fun with it, but all you could do is keep saying "douche". GO PLANET!

I already bought and finished Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3 before this collection was even thought up. So I'm just gonna come right out and say it... The real fans already own these games, no need for them to buy a 2nd time.

I know somebody is going to say "but teh motion controllz..." Yeah. Umm... Sorry I'd just rather use a Gamecube controller for a Gamecube game.

Not only that, but they made several unnecessary edits to the 3 games to better fit the Wii's "family friendly" image.

One that comes to mind is the removal of the word "damn" in the opening cinematic of Prime for....complete silence I believe.

Another being the significant toning down of the "icing up" effect on Samus' blaster when you would charge the Ice Beam.

There's others that you can research but this isn't your GameCube's Metroid Prime and Echoes......

Wow. They took out the word "damn"?

WTF? C'mon Nintendo. The Bible has a more "family friendly" mission than you do, and they don't censor any of the so-called coarse language.

Get over yourselves already.

The whole "damn" thing i'm ambiguous about. When i saw it in there the first time, i had it pegged as unnecessary swearing. It didn't really contribute to the dialogue, so it won't be missed. The question is whether that edit was commanded by Retro, or by Nintendo, to make it good or bad

The Ice beam thing is because the effect on the Ice beam was 2D, in the original Metroid Prime, a simple graphical overlay, and so impossible to re-render given that Samus' blaster arm was now mobile

An odd move, unless they are moving to produce a non-collectors' edition, but maybe it really was just meant for a limited run.

I bought this compilation the day it came out, then my house gets robbed so I try to order another one online, and every retailer is sold out and the ones that do have it have jacked up the price. I ordered a replacement copy from Best Buy 2 months ago and they finally just recently canceled my order. I'm not happy.

Forget this stupid argument about spelling, I'm just wondering why Samus would be engaging in fellatio on Dark Samus. Isn't Dark Samus just a copy of Samus? Is there something Nintendo didn't tell everyone about her, only to be revealed in Metroid Prime 4: The Crying Game?

This is why video games are such an infuriating medium. Movies, music, and books many decades old can still be bought, while a video game might stop shipping within a year of its release. I'm hoping that they'll just ship a standard edition of MP Trilogy in a regular case, but it's not the first example of a publisher ending production of a great game.

If you haven't played these yet, they are action/adventure/puzzle games, most of the time you will NOT be told what to do like in other games, these are non-linear. You explore and you study yes study the map/environment to figure out how get stuff done or when, the map is also f**king huge.

There are frustrating control issues here and there or you may call them f**king difficult areas/boss fights. The save game locations are total assoles, you CAN'T just save game and quit at anytime. But despite all that, these are very well made games, pretty graphics, and cool soundtrack, they are also f**king hard core. They are pretty awesome.
