The best part about Just Dance, is how it has everyone's panties in a bunch based on how successful it's been.

Sometimes, people just want to have fun.

Sometimes, people find dancing fun.

Big whoop.

Just like you get your panties in a bunch when there is a game that has multiple articles about it on the site?

It's no wonder people have problems with the Wii. Take for instance Little King's Story. A supposingly good RTS that DOESNT support the Wii's IR?

How about Tatsunuko vs. Capcom? A game full of characters I've never heard of.

Or Dead Space Extraction? A prequel to a game that was never available on the Wii to begin with.

I wouldn't buy this stuff either, if you want Wii games to sell make games for the Wii.

I will not agree with the idea that a Wii game has to have some sort of tacked on gimmick.

Tell me, would Little King's Story have sold any better if it supported the Wii's IR? I personally doubt it.

Tatsunuko vs. Capcom: I'm not really going to fight this, as I don't know much nor do i ever follow fighting games.

And why? Dead Space Extraction had it's own goals, it wasn't just trying to cater to fans of the original. It was trying to capture new hearts. You can't deliberately say that it wasn't trying to be a 'wii' game.

This might be the first time I've seen somebody mad that the Wii used too FEW gimmicks.

Also, isn't every new game IP of characters you haven't heard of? For example, I'd never heard of Andrew Ryan before I played Bioshock, and that turned out okay.

And since when do you need to play a sequel to appreciate a prequel?

Austin, I would have bought LKS if it had IR controls, but I refuse to buy it because it doesn't. I know I'm not alone in that mindset either, it would have taken very very little effort to implement them and would have made the game 1000 times funner.

I'm sure DSE is a good game, but it's based off a game most of us didn't play, and that's a turnoff. Not that they shouldn't have released it on Wii or anything, just saying that it wasn't a surprise that it didn't sell well.

IR control is hardly a gimmick, it's basically the same thing as a mouse on a computer. Not using it is like making a FPS on the Wii and requiring the joystiq to aim instead of the Wii's pointer, it makes no sense.

As for the new IP comment, that's true, but that's not what TVC is about. A lot of the game is fanservice, which does you no good when you don't know half the characters. Still it's better than having Capcom vs. a really crappy company (like Marvel), but not as good as say Capcom vs. Shoenn Jump or Capcom vs. Looney Tunes or something like that.

You don't need to play the original to appriciate the prequel, but it helps.

IR is the pointer, it's what you use when you navigate the Wii menu, or to collect star bits in Galaxy, or aim in Metroid Prime, ect.

Whenever you point/click on something you are using the IR

That's a complete croc.

Both Dead Rising 2 and Dead Space 2 were delayed to make crappier versions for the Wii. Devs have finite resources, and Wii is taking them from the hardcore. Devs go where the most money is. This is why Wii is stealing so much development resources and why PS3 gets so little resulting in crappy multiplatform titles.

Dead Rising for the Wii sucked, Dead Space was okay for the Wii but most people didn't want a rail shooter.

If they're going to delay two great games by giving us Wii-users some, the least they could do is give it a bit more effort. Had nothing to do with Wii's limitations, it was all about the effort and care given. And they hardly gave a crap.
If it seriously delayed their sequels by that much time, you can yell at them for the lack of trying. That's like delaying to work on a new book for two years just because you were working on a crappy short story that only took you a day.

Yes it did. Have you not tried Dead Rising on Wii specifically? Everything wrong with that was due to the hardware

The PS3 was more of an example of devs following the money, of which they make more on 360, thus it gets more development resources than PS3.

What they tried to do with Dead Rising was a direct port. Which was stupid. It was obvious the limitations would halt the game dead in its tracks when transferred to the Wii, but that doesn't mean they couldn't go a different route with it.

And hell, even when they tried to fit "as much as they could" into the Wii, it felt like a stupid excuse since the game was sub-par in comparison with "kiddy games" on the Wii! So yeah, in that sense, it still had nothing to do with the Wii's limitations. They could've worked their way around it, but they didn't. They barely even bothered creating a whole different system around it.
They did a HORRIBLE version of copy and paste.

Blame the Wii all you want, but it was the dev's fault for wanting to "waste time" for the Wii, and it's the dev's fault for making suck-ass games for the Wii as well. So it's the dev's fault either way.

...and seriously, the games you're looking for are just sequels. Tons of great games came out that would've easily eaten up your time (and continue to eat your time now)... no one's complaining that they aren't out yet. So yeah, it didn't affect the core.

What's amazing to me is that your figure is not unreasonable. $200,000 and uninspired DIY programmers (in other words, reality) = absolute shovelware 99.999% of the time. Even on the wii (especially on the wii).

But hey, it's Nintendo. Did 3rd parties seriously expect to compete with Nintendo on Nintendo? This has been ongoing for almost 30 years. That's why Playstation was such a damn hit. It gave 3rd parties the freedom to make a lot of money in more ways.

I guess I can't complain. Games are great these days if you just know how to avoid crap.

"So yeah, it didn't affect the core."

Yes, it did. You saying it didnt doesnt make you any less wrong.

It affected me directly by delaying those games. So you cant deny it hasnt affected anyone.

Again, Dead Rising/Dead Space sucked on Wii because of the hardware. It wasnt capable of the same gameplay as the PS3/360 no matter how much you dumb down the graphics. The engine itself needs more processing power to handle the ai/physics/etc.

You cant tell me Wii's hardware didn't prevent it from running more than 20 zombies at a time. Well you can, but you'd be completely ignorant of how games are made to even think of saying so.

Sequels or not, they would be sequels to my favorite games this gen. So who are you to say they don't matter? They are far better than Wii's entire library.

Wonder will Capcom change their minds now that Monster Hunter Tri has sold a lot in Japan, and will no doubt decent here if given a good marketing campaign.

I do agree with Capcom that they have a right to be pissed at the less than stunning sales for Okami, but sometimes things don't work out well.

3rd parties for the most part have given themselves a bad name on the Wii, yes there have been some good 3rd party games but not enough to make people forget alot of the shovelware. Fact is people know Nintendo brand name is gold, you release a quality Mario game on Xbox 360 or Ps3 it will outsell likely anything on those systems. People know Nintendo = quality. Which is why they can get away with producing a poor game on occasion and still do fine.

As for two key games people bring up. Dead Space Extraction is a good game, if you don't like rail style thats fine, but its still a good game but it also has low appeal for mass audience and didn't have the advertising needed to push such a game. In the end it needed word of mouth to sell and that doesn't work well since most people that were familiar with the franchise wrote it off without playing it.

Dead Rising was a lazy port, anyone who has seen it knows that. Wii obviously can't duplicate Xbox360/PS3 but it can do better than what was done there. For the most part most of the games on the PS3/Xbox360 are prettier version of the kind of games that they did in the previous generation. The foundation of them are not a leap forward from the previous generation. A port done with a little care would have made an excellent game on the Wii. It is most definitely the Devs fault that Dead Rising came out how it did.
