Listen, Kojima knows that he disappointed a lot of people by delaying the release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in Japan, and believe us, he feels bad about it. In fact, we'd argue that he's probably being just a bit too hard on himself. Writing on the Kojima Productions blog (as translated by Andriasang) Kojima wrote, "I always preach to the staff, 'You must not have a delay after a release date has been announced. There is no greater crime as a game developer.'"
We appreciate the sentiment, but we think Mr. Kojima might have temporarily forgotten some other heinous crimes: box puzzles; not having "Continue" as the first menu option; letting the game timer run while it's paused; horse armor; limited installs; ruining the A.I. director; and being on Facebook.

It's good to know that he's upset about it.
And Joystiq? You forgot one: Not having a fricking pause option in the first place!

I think one of the biggest crimes is to cut content from a game and release it later as a priced DLC. If I'm not mistaken, the DLC for AC2 was meant to be in the game, but was cut because it wasn't finished. That is just stupid, but I may be wrong.

The A.I director was not changed in the new game, at all. Nothing added, Nothing removed.
Get over it, you guys just suck at the game.

Seriously, when the game spawns thirteen Witches in ONE stage of a mission...not that it was bad.

If you are talking about L4D2, then yes, it was RUINED!

No, the game was not ruined.
And 13 witches on one stage is exaggerated by a long shot. Hard Rain has quite a few(max 4-5) you mostly only ever get 2 on the level; but that's the entire premise of the level... its rainy/stormy, hard to see, and quite a few witches walking around that you might bump into.
The game is just challenging and people are upset because they suck at it. How on earth Demon's Souls gets props for being overly difficult meanwhile L4D2 gets negative points for being the same is beyond me.

13 on ONE chapter of a level. I dont think so. And there would never be that many side by side. Max I've ever seen side by side was 3, two of them were walking and they walked to where a third was sitting down.
I play this game competitively on gamebattles.com, spilled hundreds of hours into it already. I think I know more about this game than someone who cried wolf at getting wiped on normal mode and doesn't know what team cooperation means.

I didn't say it was too hard, merely that it was different.

Demon Souls is a different thing entirely....L4D wasn't that difficult.....on the other hand L4D2 just Ranked up the difficulty like CRAZY!!!
Demon Souls isn't a sequel so we didn't have anything to really compare it to....

The whole point of Hard Rain is that it's a sugar factory, and witches are attracted to sugar. It's not like there are tons of witches just spawning randomly across all the levels, it's specifically in that one.
That has nothing to do with the change in the AI director. It was part of the level design.

L4D1 was fun, innovative, and had a good difficulty balance.
L4D2 was stupidly hard and added in nothing but pointless melee weapons, which did nothing but help you die faster.

FAIL. Way to show you know nothing about the game.
Melee Weapons added a ton to gameplay. Tanks get ripped to shreds in seconds (9 hits and its dead) by any melee. Sure you dont have the range of a bullet, but anything close to you dies quite fast. Very good addition.

After actually playing through all the campaigns and doing some multiplayer, I think I know why the game is "too hard", and it isn't the AI Director exactly. I believe it's the new enemy types (and the AI Director doesn't help much either).
I've had times where a spitter managed to trap us in a horde of zombies and kill us all in less than 5 seconds because we couldn't move. It was the carnival level where you flip the switch and get onto the roller coaster. As soon as the zombies poured in we were all trapped and dying extremely fast no matter what we did. Then add in the fact that they also had a tank who was keeping us from going forward, and the rush of zombies that were slowly us down as we tried to get onto the damn ride.
I've also had times where two tanks will come one right after the other it seemed, and that can make things pretty hard as well.
But in general I'd say that of all the matches i played online, both sides lost a hell of a lot more than they ever won. It was still somewhat fun trying to get that perfect tongue shot in from behind a series of cars, or timing your spit just right so that you do maximum damage in a confined area, but it didn't feel as fun as before.
I think for me part of the fun of the original was that it was easy or hard, depending on who you played against. Sure the AI was pretty cheap, but playing with humans as the infected was amazing. It was easy and simple, yet sometimes proved to be really hard for either side to win a level.
Now it just feels like it's always unfairly balanced so that the infected have the upper hand.
That's just my take on it though.

I have to agree with him, it IS a crime to do that. Nothing sucks worse than having a firm date on a game and being excited for it only to be let down that its been pushed back. Well only thing that would be worse is to announce a push back a month or even worse a week before release....smh

Not quite as bad as Alpha Protocol, where they just completely ignored the release date and announced a delay AFTER the date had passed...

Back your statements. I am not necessarily a big fan of Kojima, but my criticisms lie with Kojima's fans. Their extreme fawning leaves no room for criticism. However I wish there were more passionate developers like Kojima, and even though I think that Kojima has too much freedom (like George Lucas) to go ape wild on his projects, too much freedom is better than limited freedom when it comes to making games. Even though MGS4 was a train wreck of masturbatory overwrought dialouge, at the very least it was interesting and irreverent which you can't say about many games out there.

Yeah, it's tough to care about Kojima games when things like Petz Tigerz are on the market. I think the only thing worse than playing a Kojima game is waiting until you have enough money to buy a new collar for your beloved Fluffykins.

@Bradwart you can call me a fanboy if I said his work was crap for being on ps3 and not 360 but he is releasing a game for 360 and I still feel it's shit.

The difficulty was not increased. Its just that the old tactics that worked wonderfully to survive used in the first game did not mean you could PWN in the second.
Camping corners in rooms and hallways in the second game does not exactly work out like it did in the first game. you'll get wrecked.
L4D1 had glaring balance issues that allowed players to use strategies that are rather lame in order to win.
This game requires people to think and cooperate more as a group, John Rambo gameplay doesn't cut it.
And my comparison between why some games are praised for difficulty and others are not is fair imo. When do we reward challenge in gameplay, and when do we laud it?
