According to its Facebook page, Metro 2033, the upcoming post-apocalyptic FPS from 4a Games, will feature a full (optional) Russian voiceover track with equally optional English subtitles. Seeing as how Metro 2033 is set in Russia, this option could really add to the game's atmosphere, granted you don't mind reading subtitles -- or hey, maybe you even speak Russian. It's a shame other games developed by foreign studios and set in foreign countries so often neglect authentic language options when localized for North America. Yes, Yakuza, we're looking at you.
Since Metro 2033 will offer a Russian language option, we think it only makes sense that this post does, too:

Oh, but it's too bad the Commies will probably have some involvement in this. I smell Communist subliminal messages.

I used to love the way Linka talked dirty to me in Russian. Then she got with that prick Wheeler. Who the hell names their kid Wheeler? I mean who is he, Professor X's long lost son? Come on.

That's not the point. Language immersion doesn't require you to/ understand/ what's being said, it just requires that the language fits the location. In this case, Russia.
And indeed I will probably have it set on Russian. That's one of the things that I liked about playing Crysis on Delta (and Hard? I can't remember if they did or not.) The North Koreans spoke Korean!
And I normally have subtitles on anyway, in case a bit of audio skips, or I missed something that was said for whatever reason.

see? He really is great, and my joke is even better because he actually did some of the random russian screaming in in CoD, but every game just has him do the Nathan Drake voice when he's capable of so much more

He's never really in a starting role, except for Saren, and then he sounded radically different from his usual Thug 2 voice.

What they should have done is write the text in English, google translate it into Russian and then google translate it back into English. And just post the two translations. That would have been equal opportunity insult.

Actually I take it back, re-translating it shows me it's not too bad, but then again I haven't factored in grammar:

It should be fun to hear Russky in a video game for a change. COD had some in one of the scenes - its was pretty transporting.

The game doesn't look average because...it doesn't look average, it looks like it could be very good. I was just merely commenting that a well known Sony fanboy conviently thinks a non ps3 game looks "average".

I think it looks interesting. But, not all that polished. Seemed to kind of come out of nowhere and then boom its releasing here soon. I guess because he's a sony fanboy that he can't say the game looks uninteresting? What if he'd said the game looked interesting, would anyone have said he's a known Sony fanboy then? Point is that unless he is being overtly fanboyish or biased then it shouldn't matter. Being a fanboy doesn't mean it still isn't true.

Ok, I'm not familiar with all those words, but you seem to be saying you also are learning Russian and that it is a difficult language. I agree, it's a challenge, but it is a bit easier to learn to read in Russian, for me at least. I love the alphabet. Very simple, except I sometimes confuse the English looking characters. :P

Yeah, the alphabet's pretty nice. Except for the lack of "w", "h", and "th" as sounds, I wish we could replace our alphabet with it.
And what I was supposed to be saying (hopefully I got it right) was "I too am currently learning Russian. Russian's a difficult language, yes?"
